Placing Background Images in Blender 2.8

preview_player
Показать описание
Blender 2.8 has a great way of inserting background images in and you can then add them to collections to hide them or make them non selectable.

This video is part of a series on quick tips for blender 2.8

It's from GearBest
I use a graphics tablet to paint with and I can recommend this one for the price and responsiveness it's probably the cheapest of that quality as well.

Using menu: Add->Image->Background while your in a orthographic view lets you add images that behave just like previous versions of Blender, but much easier to set up. Because you can manipulate them directly in the viewport and you can load the same image into different views and manipulate each view without it effecting the other views. Good for plans, blueprints, etc when you only want them visible when you select that view. You can also add "Reference Images" and "Images as Planes" this way.

If someone else has trouble in adding image, be sure to be in object mode :)

ATTENTION* For anyone who doesn’t know how to make back ground images not selectable. The non selection tool is not uploaded by default.

Above the scene collection, there should be a drop down menu called filter. In there you can match the images on OP’s screen and follow along. Your welcome I’m a noob too and it took me half an hour to figure it out.

This little tutorial was short, sweet, and right to the point. Thank you so much for making this for us noobs! You went through everything at the perfect pace and the way you speak is clear and concise, yet detailed enough to make complete sense. I think I will be referring to many of your tutorials along my journey to learning Blender!

what was wrong with the old method to add background images....? Man 2.8 has a lot of good features but they got crazy and made a ton of changes that are not so great.

Absolutely great!! In a few seconds EVERYTHING I need - and more than I wanted - to know. Glad you also showed the "trick" to deactivate selectibility. I didn't know those options exist, until as saw them in the video and continued to dig until I found them. And finally, I am very happy that I skipped all the changes after 2.49b and just came back now with 2.8, so I don't know what about 2.79 I miss that almost everyone in the comments complains about ... lucky me. ;o)

That's interesting. Complete novice here, and I've been having issues importing a background jpeg using "add", as it introduced coloured pixels and corruption. I looked it up, and read that it has something to do with using an RX-580 AMD card, and one "solution" was to disable "overlay" in viewport settings. Just tried your method of dragging direct from a folder, and the corruption has gone even with overlays switched on. Hopefully that's an end to that problem! Thanks.

I don't like this method. It's how people do it in Maya. I find we had a better way to do this in Blender 2.79.

This is prefect for me. I am both a character designer and a 3D modeler. Thanks 😊

If anybody has a problem where the image is low resolution after opening it in blender, the image quality can be adjusted under: size.
I know I had a problem with it so hope it helps!

gosh, finaly found, I was totaly blind trying to figure out how to make that version stop grabbing my back image, Just when I was starting to learn the last 2.72 version, it changed to 2.8 after I formated my computer, and here everything is very different, I am suffering with that version, now where find books to learn is the current challenge, since I purchased the 2.71 to study and learn modeling with blender at amazon, and now my book is half useless,
