Is it worth it 4 years later? RTX 3080 Review in 2024!

The RTX 3080 was one of the best GPUs you could buy back in 2020, if you were able to find it at msrp. Almost 4 years later, is it still worth it?

Note: I am using Windows 10 when testing the games in this video (Windows 10 Home Build 19045.3803)

I got the 12gb version and I can ultra most games on 1440p with no issues. I do think we're going to be needing 16gb minimum VRAM within a year or two though

As an owner of the 10gb OG version, with a CPU a little older 3700X, yes it's worth it, I game full 75hz 1440p gaming. Bought one preowned in 2022 for $399. Worth the money. If you can find it for cheaper BUY IT

I play Red Dead Redemption 2, Max Preset at 4K with an RTX 3080 paired with a R7 5800X. (No DLSS)
I've never seen it drop below 60.
It's still more than capable in all games at 4K.
In Cyberpunk 2077 all settings are maxed (except SSR set to high and quality DLSS) and I score over 70 FPS with the in game benchmark.

It's a total beast!
I will keep it for the next couple years before I consider upgrading.

3080 was probably the best card I have ever owned. Used it for 3 years until I upgraded to the 4080, which is still a great card, until the 4080 super dropped, and I wanna upgrade again. Still have it (just in case) until the 50 series drops. All in all, it's an amazing card and if you can nab one for under 400, which I believe you can pretty much everywhere now, I say go for it

Absolutely. I just bought one used here in Finland for 350€ No point in buying a new 4000 series, a waste of money.I personally still rock the i7-8700k and RTX 3080 4K just fine.🎉

I have the msi suprim model, with a 5800x3D and 32gb 3600mhz ram and it's impeccable for 1080p 240hz gaming. I can max out my monitor with almost every game.

Got a 10GB Vision and there's absolutely nothing in the 40xx series that is worth upgrading to... due to the shady memory bus on the lower cards, none of them are worth it... apart from maybe the 4080ti and 4090... even then, the premium is not worth it for such a small bump... DLSS is NOT nor never should be a factor when purchasing higher end cards.

I'm running a MSI Ventus 3X OC 3080 10Gb, with a Ryzen 7 5800X CPU, and 32 Gb DDR4 CL14 RAM and it still runs most games at 1440p, max settings at high FPS

I using 3080 aorus xtreme since 2020 paired with 5800x3d on ultrawide 1440p 144hz, and its a still monster gpu and very capable card 💪.

I still running my MSI SUPRIM X 3080 10GB with a 5900x CPU. The only bad thing during the mining shortage era it cost me $1300 dollars and waiting in line 10 hours to get this.

Just got a watercooled 3080 fe 10gb for £400 last month, yes very worth it, can be undervolted and limited to 80% power for cheaper everyday use for most games I’ve played with zero performance loss at 1440p

Just snagged myself a rtx 3080 fe (non-LHR). It's a reference of perfection. Still an incredible card!! Why buy 4000s series when u got this??? Ideal 1440p GPU. Flawless.
