I have the 2023 HRV AWD LX. I absolutely love this vehicle. This LX trim is not only more affordable for me, but I am someone who no longer likes leather seats, finding the new cloth seats to be far more comfortable. And although the LX trim does not have all of the things the other trim packages offer, it still feels very luxurious, and still provides plenty of necessary features. I definitely love the ease of getting in and out of this vehicle, as it is not too high or too low. It handles and rides like a dream. And I absolutely love the look and design of this beautiful car - very pure European looking with no extra unnecessary frills. I actually can’t stop looking at it. It is a work of art.

I test drove the HRV and owned a current generation CRV.

The main differences:
1. The HRV is fun to drive, despite its weak engine. The CRV is more boring to drive, despite its much stronger engine.
2. The HRV is pretty spacious inside, with OK cargo space. The CRV is enormous on the inside in passenger space and cargo space.

If you need a lot of space, the CRV is absolutely the better choice. If you don’t need a lot of space, HRV all the way.

I debated back and forth between HRV and CR-V. In fact, my dealership was getting tired of me test driving both vehicles so much in the span of a week.
But I promised that I would go with one at the end.

The HR-V did feel like a better drive.
The one word to describe was SHARPER handling than the CR-V. I really loved driving the HR-V.

But in the end I went with the CR-V EX model 3-year lease.

The acceleration issue w HR-V worried me that I'd have trouble down the road.
CR-V also had better mpg.
I'm not worried abt turbo oil dilution problem LT bc I signed only 3-year lease.

The visibility out of both vehicles is fantastic and the indoor passenger space in CR-V is INCREDIBLE !
And this is after driving a 2018 RAV4 for almost five years.

So far the driving experience on 2023 CR-V can only be described as "smooth as Silk".
But yeah, the handling still can't beat the HR-V though.
Oh well, can't win 'em all.

My advice is if you're on the fence about both CR-V and HR-V, but you care about handling, then go w the HR-V, it still has a sporty feel about the way it drives.
CR-V reminds me of a car made for soccer moms.

We have owned a 97, 02, 09, 19, Honda CRVs and love them all. But we just bought the new HRV and am extremely happy. It rides so comfortably. We live in the mountains and it pulls the hills like they are non existent. We love it!

Honda HR-V is better as it’s just enough space, drives smoothly, looks great, great on mileage !!! With what you get, I wouldn’t need the CR-V. I purchased 2023 HR-V Sport July 7, 2022! Absolutely love

I absolutely love my 22 crv in Sonic gray pearl! I’ve had it since November with no issues whatsoever. I really like the look of the new hrv (they look even better in person)but I think I’d go with the 23 crv just because of the extra features.

I usually keep my vehicles 10 plus years and the main reason both me and the wife have HRV is the non Turbo engines..l know turbos put out a bunch more power but that is not important for my use..The 4 cyl naturally asperated 150 hp engine is more than enough..and l think they outlast any turbocharged motor...lts good to have choices..

Another very well done and precise review. Love our new 22 crv. Went from a pickup to this and the interior space is awesome! Still wanted a Ridgeline but with the WEF slowing everything wasn’t available. TY and you’re information is right to the point and no wasted fluff. #1 in the hundreds of reviews I’ve watched in the last 2 years!!👍

I drive a 2010 CR-V. Running strong at 240k miles. That being said thank you for this comparison. If my ride was wrecked I’d need a replacement

The North American HR-V is actually the rebaged Asian market ZR-V as the HR-V is a totally different vehicle worldwide

Too bad Honda isnt releasing the CRV until later this year or even early next year! Was really looking forward to this new model and the HRV seems underwhelming unless you get the top model.

Loved if they made an HRV hybrid. The 0-60 in 10 seconds is too slow for my area. All roads where I live are 55mph and we don’t have stop lights! So merge fast into oncoming traffic!!!

My issue with the HRV is entirely on pricing. The moment you get an AWD HRV (Canadian speaking here), the pricing gets insanely close to the CRV. Additionally, the base 2WD HRV is really a massive downgrade from just getting a Civic Hatch. And at least with the Civic, you could go to the Sport hatch and get a 1.5T.

I have had the Gen1, 3 and now 5 of the CRV and Gen7, 10 and 11 of the Civic sedan. I have to say that really, if you don't need the cargo space, the 2022 Civic Touring Sedan is by FAR the best choice as a daily driver. Power, convenience, features. Heck, it is the only one, along with the Sport Touring Hatch, that gets a FULL LCD driver console. Everything else gets that stupid Accord style one.

For us, we will hold onto our 2020 CRV Touring for a while longer. My 19 y/o son drives my 2022 Civic more than me and loves it so I know he will be a Civic guy unless his construction life requires he gets a truck or SUV.

honda CRV definitely went backwards. the 2022 is better they don't give you enough options with the 2023 crv.

My pick in this blended class would be the Toyota Rav Hybrid. I've owned several CR-V's and I just don't care for the CR-V's direction from the 3rd generation and newer. IMHO

I have the old HRV which has a great interior design with soft materials everywhere. Most new Hondas look and feel cheaper tbh. But this new ZRV is a throwback, it looks and feels far more premium than the new CRV

HRv has worse gas economy than CRV. HrV CrV and Civic interior are all same.
