I was having trouble starting my truck every time I filled the tank with gas. Once I started it the first time, it ran fine until I put gas again. Found out the problem was the purge control valve. Swapped it out and the problem went away.

You’re the man having this same issue and checked the forms but showing where it is physically helps a lot

After Googling for an “F150 hard starting after filling tank”, it wasn’t hard to figure out what needed to be replaced. What I couldn’t figure out was where the thing lived on my 2010. Your video took me right to it. Much appreciated!

All that air cleaner comes off with just 4 bolts. Opens the area up for you very well to work in.

Thanks very much, brother. That part numbers can be confusing, so it was good to find the correct one :o)

Thank you very much for the info sir. I'm getting a code and it's the same valve that's faulty. Now I know where it is.

Thanks for this video, I'm pretty sure my purge valve is stuck open because the last two times I filled up my truck had a really hard time starting and I got a code P1450 when the check engine light finally came on, I also got a code P0150 O2 sensor (Bank 2 sensor 1) which might be related to the vacuum leak that would be created by the purge valve sticking open. My plan is to test my valve before ordering a new one. The dealer wants $122.78 for a new one but I can order one on line for about half that and it will be Motorcraft, fortunately I don't need to drive my truck as I have other vehicles because you don't want to keep driving your truck if you have this issue, bad things can happen including saturating the charcoal in your vacuum canister or even imploding your fuel tank. If it wasn't so cold out right now I'd make a video of the replacement procedure and post it but I'm planning to remove the air intake from the throttle body for easier access unless I can get the canister hose off for a quick test, you should feel no vacuum from the manifold on the canister side of the valve with the electrical connector disconnected, if you do, your valve is shot.

Did you have other symptoms? Like cylinder is missing? My truck sputters when climbing hills but seems to run fine when I get below 1/2 a tank

How did you access the 8mm bolt? What did you have to remove to get to it?

This may be the worst auto repair video I have ever seen. Might as well just show a black screen. Ffs.
