A strange thing happened to my multi needle felting tool! If you’re thinking about buying a multi needle tool for needle felting you’ll want to see what happened to this tool first.
In this video I talk about my experience of using a wooden needle felting multi needle tool that holds eight needles and a clover pen style needle felting tool that holds three needles and give a quick review on these needle felting multi needle holder tools. I also talk about the quality of these needle felting tools versus the cost.
If you are a beginner to needle felting this will help you decide which needle felting tools to buy.

Thanks for the mention and yes, I'm loving my clover pen with 40 triangular in it. Great video because the cheap kits on Amazon really don't help beginners and can even put them off xx

I really appreciate you making this video. I was on Amazon and trying to figure out what I should get as someone brand new to the art form. Thank you for helping to make sure I get what I really need to begin with as opposed to something I’ll regret later and will be wasted. =)

I have a wooden holder like that and another that holds three needles instead of eight, but I don’t like them because the needles are too far apart for the small items I’m making. I was about to buy a Clover tool off Amazon, but reviews said it only works with Clover’s needles. I have a variety of needles and didn’t want to waste money on a tool they didn’t fit into, so I jury-rigged my own version by taping three needles together in a row with electrical tape. I initially chose electrical tape because I had it handy, but I found that it sticks to metal better than other kinds of tape, and has a bit of stretchiness that allow me to bend or flatten the row of needles to felt different shapes without the tape getting loose or breaking. It may not be the ideal solution, but I’ve been happy enough with my results to mention it. 🙂

I absolutely love the Clover tool, it’s great for quicker felting, especially for a larger project. I did buy a wooden multi needle holder from Heidi Feathers but I much prefer the Clover tool.
Thanks for sharing. 💕💕

I decided to invest at the outset and get a walnut multi needle tool from Living Felt. It can hold up to 8 needles. I have been really happy with it. I also own the Clover 5 needle punch tool and the Clover single needle pen. All are fabulous. The reason why I didn't get the pink pen was that for the closeness of the needle groupings when in the holder, I could get that same closeness with the walnut holder but have more options to use more or less needles. YMMV Thanks for sharing.

I've just stumbled across your channel! Love your videos, incredibly informative, fantastically paced and your humour is perfect 🥰

Do you have any tips and products you'd recommend for helping to avoid fatigue/RSI from needle felting? It's the only thing preventing me from indulging more on it!
I've seen an electric needle felting machine online which is tempting, although very expensive...

I made the mistake of buying bargain tool sets on Amazon too. Twice! Then I bought a quality set. Cost just a bit more but was worth it! I rarely use the big multi handle but I use my pink Clover pen tool on almost every project. I bought the best needles from Living Felt & 2 kits my hubby bought me had quality wool & needles. One was Blue Sky & another was from Wool Buddy. 2 were off Etsy and were not only icky but so was the wool! One didn't even have a logo or directions or even a picture! It's a tiny coin purse & I know that by the purse closure. Point being, buy from reputable places & you won't get junk. It's the junk stuff that puts new felters off the hobby. FYI I have poked myself through the side seams in the leather finger protectors too!

I am using the tools from that exact kit right now and it’s okay I suppose? I can’t say much about the needles. The single needle holder is quite nice to use but sometimes the needle gets pushed in a bit. I only use the multi needle tool with 3 needles because it feels weird and doesn’t felt well if I use more of them.

I’ll definitely check out the clover tool now when I have to buy wool for new projects, thank you for this video!

ha, i bought a really similar kit from amazon. it has the exact same tool. glad i don't use it. interesting about the needles. i am really new to felting, so i had no idea the barbs could be different sizes. i don't really have the money to buy better ones at the rate i break them though. i use acrylic yarn anyway [cause i cant afford wool] and it felts up really fast, so its ok.

Now you have me afraid I’m pretty sure I bought the same kit off of Amazon. That seam in the cots are tricky too. You thing you are invincible until it goes through the seem. I try to hide the seem away. No issues with the multi tool yet after three months but the single one refuses to stay on now. A few weeks later I bought the clover tool. I liked it but don’t use it often because i work on larger stuff

How do I know what size the needles are?

That's strange because I've had one of those needle holders for ages and that has never happened; maybe you had a faulty one?
