That's interesting. I did a similar experiment with making player entities a while back, but through integrating a bit of code to force the game to acknowledge its presence. It was labeled as "Unknown", too.
You can make fun stuff out of that.
I remember making those entities to mirror my behavior, or doing a simple asset for them to engage in battles with mobs and other players.
Strangely enough, cloned players kept cycling between different animations the more copies I made of them.

For java:
Even if you did actually create a clone it would simply replace your last entity and tp you to the new one, tho you will be unable to move and such(try it with spigot, or rather NMS)

I had done similar thing in Tekkit Classic 1.2.5, and funny enough when you clone yourself that entity has different values to that of the original, and mirrored inventory that saves seperately. However, the skin actually loaded and the game sees it as craftplayer. I'm pretty sure there's a ton of fail safe code preventing a full on clone as else would confuse the hell out of Minecraft and crash everything.

What If you cloned a ender pearl? Would there be nothing or a ender pearl in the air. And would it teleport you somewhere? And I think you need a freeze time clock mod

it does the same effect as when you join into a world with the same account on 2 different devices (one player invisible to he other one, different inventory)

Can you see the player model if you go in f5? since your player model is invisible in first person, that might be why your clones were invisible.

you had include entities set to off when you saved it, so the armor stand should not be saved
