In 2010 a high school student known online as xkcdhatguy would take to YouTube, sharing his theory on what a hypothetical 4th dimension might be. The video was praised by the YouTube community for being easy to understand, and it has received close to 30 million views since being uploaded. Aside from the 4th-dimensional theory itself, people became somewhat obsessed with the young presenter featured. He seemed wise beyond his years. Many would ask xkcdhatguy personal questions about himself, but he never shared much if anything. The curiosities with xkcd grew further when one day he mysteriously disappeared from YouTube. What actually happened to xkcdhatguy? Today ill be telling the story of his rise to YouTube fame, and what caused him to leave the site.

Hey, great to see that someone on youtube actually posted a quality analysis of what's been going on instead of an imagined idea that I was "taken by the FBI" or similar thoughts. Let me elaborate on a few of the main points to help clarify.

Often times very smart people also have a depressed nature. They are so smart that they tend to analyze every single thing and it can become overwhelming. I’ve known people like this. They can also actually have answers to things that many people either don’t have the cognitive ability to understand or simple choose not to listen to. This can contribute to the depression as well. Good to see he’s battling as best he can.

His voice is so mature-sounding. He's quite the intellectual and he has an opinion on various topics, not just dimensional existences. He's an amazing young man. Stay strong XKCDHatGuy.

XKCDHatGuy got me into physics and quantum mechanics on a basic conceptual/hobbyist level. Super cool dude. Great video

The thing is…
Someone SHOULD be able to post without mass expectation. It’s really creepy how people demand to be let into the personal life of others just bc they watch that person’s videos. It’s really psychotic how those very people will actually hunt families down or get in touch with jobs.
In a time of some pretty weird boundaries…you would think the more basic ones would be respected foremost.

still subbed to this guy, thanks for reminding me. wasn't aware of the difficult experiences he's been through. glad he's now in a good place. a great thinker of our time and enthused to hear he's working on a book.

The main problem with being too smart is you're able to see all the angles and it can be extremely annoying and frustrating to point out what's obvious to you but seems to be hidden from others. Dude got fed up with how stupid the world is and just went on with his life. Can't blame him a little bit, my ultimate life dream/goal is to get a cabin in the Rocky Mountains to just get away from it all, so I completely understand the instinct to just want to disappear.

The title of this video is far more interesting than the video itself. Title made it sound like XKCD hat guy vanished into thin air while explaining four dimensions.

I feel like he started out like the rest of us. Young, open minded, optimistic, and ready to conquer the world…then life happened. Now we are apart of the same wheel. Smh life. I hope he’s getting the help he needs and just because you have a mental health condition doesn’t mean you can’t be Albert Einstein smart. I hope he keeps at it. On or off the internet. He can make those changes that he was so passionate about.

The most shocking part of this whole video is the fact that XKCDHatGuy is 6'5" I never would have guessed.

Glad the dude is ok. He literally doesn’t owe anybody, anything. Seems like he’s got his own issues to deal with. He doesn’t need to deal with immature buffoonery. Let ‘em be folks.

I stumbled across his first video recently and must admit I wondered what he went on to become, but ultimately, he owes nothing to anybody. I wish him nothing but good things.

"No. He didn't slip into the fourth dimension, he just took a break."

The reality of him taking a break and solving issues within himself is actually an example of a person making a journey to the fourth dimension. Things that we don't usually deal and understand within ourselves are part of the complicated realm of a higher dimension. It's the reason why people who resolves depression and other issues within them tend to acquire perspectives and reasoning that are a lot better than an average human being. It's what you call choosing the path to the correct human evolution.

His drug point is actually very good, Specially the “if the drug has to be forbidden because it has so many negative effects, wouldn’t the negative effects already be punishment/bad enough to those users?” as in “why should we arrest them and make them criminals in the looks of the police”. It’s pretty clever.

I feel bad XKCDHatGuy, looks exhausted and frustrated as if he's looking for answers for something he cannot find. Mental health and life can really emotionally drain you. Wherever he is and whatever he is doing, I hope he is doing well and that he is happy.

I hate that as soon as I started this video I had said, “He probably was suffering with mental illness and needed to go to a psychiatric facility.” I was misdiagnosed as schizoaffective back in 2015. The pain you go through with that illness is terrible. Most people suffering with mental illnesses are incredibly intelligent and creative. I’m glad he got help.
