Work stress can be exhausting. Sometimes I get overwhelmed and stressed out about work, but when I do, I have a system for dealing with it.
In this video I show you how I manage my own stress about work and walk you through my system of dealing with work stress.

In therapy I use a combination of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Systems Theory, positive psychology, and a bio-psycho-social approach to treating mental illness and other challenges we all face in life. The ideas from my videos are frequently adapted from multiple sources. Many of them come from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, especially the work of Steven Hayes, Jason Luoma, and Russ Harris. The sections on stress and the mind-body connection derive from the work of Stephen Porges (the Polyvagal theory), Peter Levine (Somatic Experiencing) Francine Shapiro (EMDR), and Bessel Van Der Kolk. I also rely heavily on the work of the Arbinger institute for my overall understanding of our ability to choose our life's direction.

I cried so hard while watching this. So often I feel completely alone dealing with anxiety, thank you from the bottom of my heart for putting yourself out there and being dorky with your selfie cam for all of us.

Psilocybin saved my life. I was addicted to heroin for 15 years and after Psilocybin treatment I will be 3 years clean in September. I have zero cravings. This is something that truly needs to be more broadly used in addiction treatment.

When anxiety comes in strong, I talk to it and say, “Thank you for letting me know the anxiety system is working. I don’t need to activate you now, but I am thankful to know you are there to move me to action when I need it.”

How could someone “hate” on a therapist who is helping so many people??? I’m so sorry. Praying for your peace & protection right now. Thank you for making this video and demonstrating how to deal with stress. What a beautiful place to hike, too!

Yes stress is part of the game...
Also, a fair amount of attacks and agressivity goes along with every meaningful actions. That's the sign that your work brings change !
You are definitely doing good in the world, thank you for that 🙏

This was so refreshing hearing a therapist talk about similar stuff a lot of folks are going through. People, myself included, can get stuck in some pretty dark places and feel alienated so I know this is going to help many

You've taken the ability to show the reason why APA indicated self-care is an ethical imperative for those of us in a helping/service position. Take care of yourself so you can take care of others!

I haven't commented before, but felt drawn to by this video. I have been watching for awhile now and I have gotten a lot from your videos. I can't afford a therapist so you are it. You are so authentic. Please don't listen to the haters, look at how many love what you do. I truly appreciate you.
