In this video I’ll be showing you 10 free programs that are better than the apps made by Microsoft. Most of which are included in Windows by default. It’s not necessarily that those apps are bad. Those I show you we think are just more worthy alternatives that might work better for you.

What are your favorite free programs that can replace Windows built-in apps? "Everything" which I mentioned in this video should be built into Windows as the default file search... Thanks for watching :)

Before I switched to Linux, I was using Windows with all possible Microsoft, Google, and Adobe apps replaced with free opensource versions. Then when I switched to Linux two years ago, it was a very smooth transition. My only regret is that I didn't switch sooner.

Seems like everyone needs video, audio and picture editing software. Does anyone do backups? How about financial software? Remember Norton utilities? What’s better and cost effective/not bloated/and not constantly trying to upsale?

Good recommendations across the board. Been using VLC for a couple of years at your suggestion in one of your older videos. As you said, it just plain works.

The media player (Media Player Classic) that comes with the K-Lite Codec Pack is as good, or better, than VLC. It is also freeware and comes in multiple varieties for simple playback to codec tweaking.

I like WinRAR, useful for creating files in different formats

Edge is still better than brave. yes it might freeze the system sometimes, but only when we cross the tab limit. For me that limit is over 600 tabs.
Even with 600 tabs, it takes only 2-3GB of RAM, but Brave with only 100 tabs takes 4-5GB. and on top of that, features like copilot, side bar apps, split tabs for 2 simultaneous webapps, workspaces, shared tabs, great UI, chrome extensions, etc
I loved using Brave though (used it for a couple of weeks), but if it can't fit into my RAM, it doesn't work for me

Thanks for these tips. I will try a couple of these and see how the learning curve is. Watching from the Phiilippines.

OBS has saved me a lot of work. I used it to capture conference calls and interviews so I can always go back and reference them later. It's better than the conference call software because I can shrink down my screen and have the MP4 saved right on my computer.

The Movies & TV app is an app from WIndows 10 that Microsoft hasn't updated in years. The VLC Player comes with codecs built-in that Windows Media Player doesn't have

I had Davinci but the next update could not be applied because it said my graphics card was too low for the next update. So I have VSDC and I have had no problems with it so far.

Would One Commander and Everything do exactly the same job, or are there differences in these 2??

5:43 Pot Player is the only video playback player that can show a preview window like YouTube does. Comes in handing when trying to locate a specific part in a video. VLC can't do this.

Treesize is another utility that is very helpful in determining what is using up your disk space.
