I had three pathological liars in my life. 2 of them died before their time. And the 3rd I avoid When I can.

Watched my ex do this on regular basis. He was a communal narcissist and an alcoholic, supposedly in recovery.

Pathological lying is a common trait of all cluster B disorders.

I know someone like this. She was TOXIC. I HAD TO GET HER OUT OF MY LIFE... THANK-YOU FOR TELLING ME WHAT HER DEAL WAS.❤

My first husband had this condition. It is hard to comprehend what the lying is like until you've dealt with someone who has the disorder. It's almost like when a small child spins tales because they've yet to get a solid grasp on what is reality vs fantasy. Everything out of his mouth could be a lie and he'd never "come clean" because it was like he was the one unable to tell the difference.

If you go listen to the tapes for the Letecia Stauch murder case, she does the same thing. It's easy to say she was lying to try to get out of trouble, but fact is no sane, plotting person would embellish in the ways she did. She just kept adding and making it more fantastical every round. It only hurt her case, and any normal adult would be able to discern that other people knew none of that occurred.

Good old

Plausible Deniability

Gotta love those with mad skills of “attempted deception”. Gotta really appreciate YOUR OWN SKILL at detecting the BS.

Best course of action? Note the lie. Never tell someone you noticed the lie. Act accordingly (don’t trust them).

I eventually, many years into our marriage, discovered my husband to be a pathological liar. When we first dated we trained for a half marathon together and told the stories of our lives over the many miles. I fell in love with this man, or should I say the character he created. And he stayed in character for 10 years!

It turns out he is also quite an amazing fiction writer. Sadly though, his fiction is the place where he feels safe confessing his true self, which was not pretty.

I thought it was a coping mechanism from childhood. Like when someone grows up with strict parents or parents that scold you a lot

Pathological liars/antisocial personality disorder that with a sex addiction .. I knew a person like this.. After I delved a little deeper, found out this person had alcoholic parent and was bullied as a child.. I believed they were a good person at the core, but a lot of childhood trauma.. They eventually passed away.. It was horrible to see them pass.. just horrible.. no one there .. died alone..

The red carpet of fantastical words repeated as if it were true but petered out for lack of proof that one is real

the only time I've been called a liar, is when I tell the truth, because the truth is stranger than fiction. and then they say have mental issues. I have truly lived a bizarre life. But I have lied, to myself, that's where the problem is. but sometimes I lie to self in the moment of extraordinary experiences because science can't explain the phenomenon. and it's down right beyond explanation. but eventually, with more courage than I had at the time of the event I tell myself the truth and it can be quite disturbing and put your head onto a spin. example: have you ever been in a ufo? it could be disturbing maybe not, but the people that would believe you are those that have been there. 50 yrs ago they would put you on medication. in today's world the MIB would keep you quie by altering your consciousness. and that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
