Is glutinous rice flour the same?
Oh the sauce is very similar to what we call "manong's sauce" here in Philippines! Usually a dip for street foods like fishballs, squid balls, etc .

I bet those boiled balls would be a bit more awesome when deep fried before pouring sauce. We have something similar in the Philippines. Though it's coating is sweet. It's called carioca. Look it up. Oishi!
