How do you handle different EMR systems
Показать описание
Dr. Paymon Kayhani addresses how he manages the different EMR systems he comes into contact with on a daily basis.
Transcript:
Working as a locums provider, I have been exposed to a number of different electronic health records. One of the questions that was posed to me at a recent conference that I attended was how do you keep the passwords straight and how do you keep all the know how of being able to navigate. The truth of the matter is, especially for those who work locally, there tends to be a few vendors who provide electronic health records. It’s not as myriad and varied as you would think.
What I do in order to be able to make sure that I am always up to date and ready, is on my iPhone I have separate cards for not only just the passwords for the various electronic health records, but rather all the important numbers and extensions at any given facility, and I update that on an ongoing basis.
I also feel that, though I have my favorites as far as electronic health records to work with, knowing how to navigate different systems makes me a versatile physician. I personally haven’t found it to be a deal breaker in any way, shape, or form or any type of significant stress.
