Показать описание
We review the UPDATED Anbernic RG552. This "80gb version" comes with 2 MicroSD cards, (16gb and 64gb), and is updated to the latest firmware release with Android 11 pre-installed.
This has always had the look and elegance of a flagship handheld, but can it shine?
We test a variety of systems, including all the way to the Nintendo Wii, but the question is how far can we push it?

Wow this has been a very precise in-depth review.. you really threw everything at it to test how it works.
I won't be buying anymore handhelds till I see a review from you first, that's for sure !

I really appreciate the teabag sizing, I was actually able to go and grab a Yorkshire bag and see how big it was!

Nice review, I like the design with the big screen, it's a shame they didn't put more effort into taking care of bugs and making sure everything is configured to run optimally.

Nice review, I just ordered a RG552 to handle the older retro games as I already have a 8.4" Onexplayer 5800u that runs everything except original Xbox which runs better on my Steam Deck as Xemu is much more optimized on Linux. The Onexplayer is great but the screen really sucks the battery down, so looking forward to playing retro games on the 552. Also from what I have researched, the Black Seraph Android 9 port is better optimized with less bloatware and includes the Google Play Store and this seems worth the patreon fee to get the most out of this system.

Thanks for this review! I was really considering getting one of these, but you're review saved me $200+. LoL. Currently on the RG353V and PowKiddy A20.

Damn.... i would be very frustrated if i ran in this many issues while trying to play.... A defective SD card is a major problem.

Thanks for the review, i will take in consideration if i ever decide to get one of those.

It's worth it ?

Seriously, they supplied FAKE SD's, talk about taking the mickey..Good solid review there Emu, too much faffing around swapping systems to find one that runs an emulator at a half decent speed..And avid..

I have an Odin Pro and bought an RG552 as they're a lot cheaper now. The screen and 5:2 aspect ratio, along with the D Pad make this worthwhile for lower end gaming. PSP runs pretty well along with Dreamcast and some Saturn...

Great review (as always) my friend. Very in-depth and some was even beyond my understanding, which is good because I learned some stuff. I honestly loath the phony sd cards these usually come with. We expect it from China but since this came from Germany and I’d my understanding is correct, loaded with a different operating system then unacceptable.

Can it play the new games in the App Store?

Okay. I got my rg552 from Ambernic in the mail last week. What they sent did not have the circular air intake on the back. I charged it, put the OS and 256gb game cards in, it took almost a minute to reach the home screen, I scrolled past many 'titles' in Chinese to reach ones with box art and sample anim, , tapped A, it went black and returned to the box art. I tried many times to load. The manual is a joke and I find no support online. No touch screen and dual boot...how?
The emulator screen looks like what's in the video.
If it's the OS flaw, can I get an image of another somewhere?

Having duff SD cars that are supposed to come from a reputable seller is a potential shocker.

Hello, I have a question, my device does not have "play store" how can I get android games without the store? Is it a good idea to download the store from an apk? Or is there a file that corrects this? My device comes with android 11.

Did you ever get reimbursed for the bad SD cards? Either from Anbernic or the seller?

Anbernic have a frustrating habit of selecting screens that would be amazing for particular use cases but not designing the rest of the system accordingly.

The RG505 for example: They have the Vita's screen. In my opinion their top priority should have been to provide a good PSP experience (seeing how it's early days for Vita emulation and we don't know what the requirements will eventually be for a good experience). They picked the right chipset, gave it good battery life, but they dropped the ball on the ergonomics and the software side of things seems a bit of a mess. It also seems unnecessarily large. I'm not saying they should have cloned the PSP/Vita design, but they certainly should have been shooting for something approaching being pocketable.

The RG552: I'm torn to be honest. Part of me wants to say they should have gone all in focussing on retro content. Keep the d-pad and face button-centric design, use either a more modestly specced and/or more power efficient chipset, try to keep the cost down and let the screen's versatile combination of aspect ratio and resolution sell it. On the other hand, that display would also be great for widescreen games. I don't know what kind of resources Anbernic has, but I'd love to see a Steam Deck competitor using that screen due to its versatility. If they do ever produce a more high end device, they'd need to give the layout and ergonomics some serious consideration because it's been a weak point for them on their larger handhelds and some of the competition have tripped up here and there too.

I'd love to see a Sega inspired retro handheld. The market is dominated by Nintendo design. While I'm not bothered by it anymore. It does leave people like me, far far in the dust. Maybe someday, someone will make something different or at the least, Sega inspired. Good review though.
