I've never met anyone who thought the spire was added later and wasn't part of the original construction.

If it wasn't there king Kong wouldn't hold on to it when he's at the top

They didn't notice the intense wind while they were building it? 🤦🏾‍♀️

You can't lie to me. I saw the Dr. Who episode on this. That spire was used to make an army of human Dalek hybrids with a bunch of space Chicago typewriters during the great depression!

The spire was also used for radio. They put antennas on top for the radios at the time, this also was turned into a tower for tvs.

This is an urban legend. They did do a single blimp dock but it wasn't the main reason for the spire.

They quickly learned both the docking station contractor and the zep airline had tighter ties to Adolf boy than the spire itself to the Empire State.

I love New York movies back in the 70s & 80s because of the seductive idea of living on the top level of some of its skyscrapers
Long lives Gotham 🦇

You gotta love the Art Deco style. Where else can you find Art Deco skyscrapers? One extremely foggy day in July 1945 the pilot of a B-25 was given permission to not fly to LaGuardia. He just barely missed the Chrysler Building, but there was something dark in the fog ahead which he wasn’t able to avoid!
