Oats isn’t dangerous nor is it healthy,
(Read the complete comment to know about it completely 🙏)
having a huge following and so called “credibility” all these influencers should highlight the negatives along with the positives, and vice versa….

Talking about the positives oats are a high fibre rich food which should form an essential part of our diet, it has a relatively low calorie value thus good for weight loss and so a oat meal will keep you full for a while and you will not be taking in high calories

But the problem with oats is that oats come in a wide variety of shape and forms. Such as rolled, steel cut oats, ready to eat etc….
The problem with ready to eat oats( the one which we most often have) is that they have high GLYCEMIC INDEX of 89,

Glycemic Index of the food is the amount of sudden change that food will cause in your blood glucose levels, therefore foods which have a high GI such as READY TO EAT OATS can cause a sudden SPIKE in BSL and are therefore not recommended for diabetics and not healthy for breakfast,
where as other forms such as ROLLED OATS and STEEL CUT OATS which are raw and larger oats are the actual healthy ones with normal or moderate GI

The READY TO EAT oats also contain preservatives Vihar unhealthy and might also cause cancer

The way you prepare your oats also makes a huge difference,
What most people do is that by saying that oats are healthy, and I am having oatmeal, so I’m having a healthy breakfast, is wrong❌, because apart from the oats they are also adding other unhealthy foods in large quantity such as excess honey, excess Maple syrup chocolate, which is unhealthy,

The way you cook, the Oats also makes a difference. For example, if you ground the oats into a flour the major fibres are broken down, also BAKING oats such as in the form of BISCUITS is also unhealthy, it does not have any nutritional advantages

SO BY SPREADING HALF TRUTHS INFLUENCERS ARE ARE CAUSING HARM RATHER THAN GOOD, and THE NAIVE AUDIENCE ALSO RATHER THAN DOING SOME RESEARCH ARE JUST BLINDLY FOLLOWING ANYTHING WHICH IS WRONG,
I REQUEST PEOPLE TO BE SMART AND PUT IN THEIR OWN RESEARCH TO WHEN THE MATTER IS RELATED TO THEIR HEALTH

Because when it comes to your own health nothing is more bigger than it

Both are correct
It’s just that the info conveyed is partial or incomplete
What Dr. Pal said applies to non processed rolled oats
What the other person said applies to processed oats

Yes oats have anti nutrients and can decrease certain things from the body but, it is a high source of fibre ie good for gut bacteria. It also has certain nutrients too, but as a proper meal, it is not sufficient until paired with right things which thankfully most of us do. Eating mindfully and according to our body's needs and reactions to a food is what is most important. What I personally think is enjoying the food, observing how our body reacts to it and then incorporating it in our diet accordingly would be the best thing to do.

The anti-nutrient part is correct. Phytic acid. It is in millets too. You need to wash and soak them. But we cant do that with instant oats

The second man is talking about phytates in Oats (anti nutrients), phytates are present in a lot of uncooked foods like uncooked dal, nuts etc. However, the process of preparing these foods, for example, soaking and boiling dal or soaking almonds before consumption, helps reduce the phytates. You can't say oats is "bad" for you, it's just not as nutritionally dense as some other foods.

...
They both are right coz I tested personally and am diabetic 32yrs ....steel cuts oats are the best according to dr.pal oats is the best for our gut (if our digestive system is good).
Poha made in our country the brown one locally sourced is the best one( if the digestive system s sensitive and weak) . however both are right .
Our ancient medical system direct us to eat with 100 or 200km within eat naturally and locally produced food.therefore, I am following poha most and steel cut oats twice in a month ....I respect OUR ANCIENT MEDICAL SYSTEM.

Partial knowledge can even cause death. Both are correct but as a dietician I agree with them, but proper cooking and fermentation techniques antinutrients can be decreased .Antinutrients like phytates are present in all plant based products. And Dr Pal said was true nutritional facts. Not just include oats but include whole grains, millets for better health benefits.

Normal rolled oats which is most common in market is unhealthy as all the fibre content is removed from it. Also it is heavily processed which causes nutrient loss. The normal oats is only high calorie carbs in it. When this is combined with milk the calorie value gets even higher.
A relative of mine who is diabetic says whenever she consumes oats her glucose levels skyrockets especially when making oats porridge with milk in it. Even without milk she says oats increases her sugar levels.

The problem lies in the type of oats that we are consuming. Steel cut oats is the best. As it is unprocessed it's is rich in fibre and minerals .
The minerals that Dr Pal says is only available in steel cut oats.
Normal rolled oats that most of the people consume is just a lump of carbs.

I am also so confused about consuming oats. Once i met a man who sprays pesticide in paddy field he told me that oats is very dangerous because we spray lots and lots of pesticides on oats to keep the pest away. He told me I know that i will die soon because of the job but think of the generation who has only oats for all their breakfast amd sometimes dinner.

Let me clarify
Oats does contains anti nutrients but it is recommended to keep oats overnight or else use quick oats which can be made in 5 to 10 minutes as they are already been boiled and steamed before while processing.
So it's up to you what yo choose 😊
