I just baught the game 4 days ago gunny enough. Your tip about donating gear has saved my bacon I had a bunch of extra parkas and winter cloths that were eating storage space

I usually use wood for my all purpose 2 room base, with a barracks and everything else, butcher table/spot outside, campfire/stove(depending on my scenario) in the either center area or the barracks.
I later move to steel for bigger, more divided bases, with individual rooms and such, and sterile floors in the research/hospital/cooking areas(yes all at once)
And finally I move to granite, wether it be for mega bases or just buildings, granite replaces my steel slowly to avoid any possible 20, 000 watt storage explosions

For a starting area, somewhere on the edge of a mountain or some such, and the region should mostly include granite and marble

9:14 Marble floor have the same beauty as other type of stone floors so it's pointless to make them. Use marble floor only if you like it aesthetics/looks.

Infestation in the freezer is not so bad. Open space, no expensive furniture to be destroyed and you don't have to waste time hauling dead bugs to the freezer, they are already there. )

another tip for freezers (using your own info from this video) would be to replace those stone/steel doors with wooden ones so that they open/close faster.
