Thanks. Such a difference. I watch Paleo/Carnivore channels and get strings of testimonials and dubious theories. I watch plant based channels and get studies and graphs. 🌻

I am glad to be able to prove you wrong. I am constantly losing fat on ketovore eating about 100g of protein and fat daily, and it makes from 1200 to 1800-2000 calories. It's going down even if I eat more. I am rapidly gaining weight as soon as I start eating more plant based and meat free, like 1kg in 2 days. So it's what carnivore people say: you eat more but you lose weight, I checked this. Moreover: No more loose and heavy stools, no more gut problems, no more brain fog. I did Keto for a while, and it is not a correct diet if you restrict calorie intake to lose weight, because ok, at the beginning you lose weight alright, but then your organism starts to burn fat from your muscles and then it is too long in a stress mode that it starts to store fat.
One have to increase calories to his/her needs (you can at least look at the table for recommended calorie intake according your age and activity), fat and protein, and it works.
Not in the first week, of course- you're losing water only, but give yourself say a 6-weeks time to adapt slowly, increase your protein and fat a little bit every week, and you are going to be much healthier and stronger person in 6 weeks.

Just to be clear kg is much much clearer for non-us viewers))) I don't know why the US is still using these old units)
But this podcast is simply cool!

Categorical avoidance of any food group is silly, but Michael Pollan’s phrasing of “eat food, not too much, mostly plants” is golden.

It would be interesting to see what happens on a high fiber plant based keto diet

Hey, I was super surprised by the study’s outcomes. I looked up the study and I can’t find what was fed to the patients. Where could I potentially find that information if at all?
Thanks.

That last bit was pretty huge actually: on average people would need to become vegan in order to get their bmi in the healthy range.

Long term studies are the most reliable. All you have to do is look at the Blue Zone regions to see what generational, primarily plant-based diet can do for communities. No need for scientific control groups to conduct a study when empirical evidence through statistical analyis and observation are available all around us.

What about people who are mostly plant-based yet still eat various meats? The difference is probably just a matter of how much junk food these people eat. Plant-based whole foods vegans are probably less likely to eat junk food compared to people who eat anything, aka omnivores. The main difference, among any diet, might just be whether you eat junk food or not. I am an omnivore but I minimize alcohol and junk food plus I exercise regularly and I am in great shape and all of my blood work is good. So it could just all come down to eating junk food or not, and I'm including alcohol in the junk food category.

Would love to see you talk to Ethan Weiss, someone who could defend keto without all the dogma. Would also love to see you dig into plant-based keto in general.

What about blood sugar and insulin resistance?😊

I'm truely commited to a keto diet, it basically saved my life.

Any diet high in saturated fat is probably going to be deleterious, regardless of whether it's Keto or not.

Why does it have to be keto "vs" vegan?

You can be high fibre AND Keto without meat, fish or dairy.

There's also plant Keto, so this title could be misleading...

Plant-based diets actually cause more fat loss. Keto diets cause more water loss. Fiber seems to be a big factor in this..

Thanks for this! I would love to see this discussed with someone in a different field of thought than your own (maybe Dr. Chaffee there, I believe in Perth). Perhaps someone who studies and practices keto or carnivore, as opposed to two vegans.

Sorry, I have never met a healthy and happy well adjusted vegan.
Only on line and TV. But not in real life. I am a 62 year old female in near perfect health and weight who does hard physical work every day. 4 decades on cycling between Low Carb and Keto, high fat meats, fish and about 25 eggs per week augmented with some low carb greens and a little home fermented foods for my gut microbiome. ...providing the building blocks for wonderful meals as I love to cook and eat well.
