The biggest question after 'what tuning software do I need' is without a doubt, 'do I need a special tuning laptop?' The short answer is no, but there are a few key requirements. A windows OS, plenty of USB ports, a solid-state hard drive and plenty of battery life are your main considerations given the fact tuning software doesn't require a lot of CPU, GPU or RAM resources to run, but physically a laptop used for tuning does get a much harder time others so it's wiser to invest money elsewhere if you don't have it to burn.

3 USBs aren't a necessity on a laptop as you can get a USB hub to give yourself many more USB ports and only take up one slot in the laptop USB. As for SSD's, best to use an external SSD so you can backup your data incase of laptop failure and not lose any intellectual property.
Now, instead of Diesels, play with the other D called DOCILE! 😛

i want to ask a question
i remapped my bmw 520d couple years ago
but whatever i do (putting back an version of a 520d or software update) it doesn't seems to go back to original
if i go the a bmw dealer and ask them to install a new ECU (with new reprogramming, so not a copy of my old ECU) will that make my car back to original? like the remap never happened?

Commenting on the dangerous act of re-tuning/ecu re-mapping your car. It is well known fact through out the car sales world around the world that if you re-map/re-tune your ecu you loose all your warranty rights under law. This is also noted by the fact that none of these businesses will give a written warranty for engine or drive train damage to your car. These people and businesses are as bad as phone scammers.
They should state these facts in their video, they should also state that if the dealer does an update on their ecu all the so called performance tuning will be lost and you will have to pay to have it redone.
