In this Devlog I explain shortly my thoughts on porting my game Sandfire to Godot 4 pre alpha.

. . .

Sandfire is a singleplayer-action-adventure game with souls-like elements.

Sandfire takes the Player on a journey through a profound Abyss to find the source of a magic sickness that currently plagues the rest of the world.

Awesome progress! Man the visuals in your game is just breath taking. Really like the idea of how you gave small details for the player to wonder why those objects exists. It gives a bit of mystery and anticipation for the player to figure out what that is. Keep it up! :)

Love the mood and vibe the environment is giving off ! Great job ! Glowy weapons are sick.
Whats the polycount on that rope at 0:16 or are they tessellated?
Subscribed to follow your progress, keep up the good work ! :D

Goodness, those human-looking trees are a fantastic idea. I'm seeing really nice bits of environmental storytelling all over the map.
Frame rate seems surprisingly stable for a pre-alpha engine. Here's hoping it will at least come close to Unity or UnrealEngine when it's officially out. Godot needs to finally become a viable alternative.

in chapter 2:00 Kmitt explained why he is already using Godot 4 for his game Sandfire — even though Godot 4 is in the pre-stable 'dev' stage.

now i feel like i am in a similar situation with my game:
i am making a rhythm game for Android phones (and tablets) — and this type of game needs a much bigger emphasis on GUI than many other games — so i find it really important to have a rock-solid GUI structure.
i wanted to not switch to Godot 3.5 until it's stable, but now i feel like i just can't continue making the game without scene-unique nodes — a Godot 3.5 feature that isn't in Godot 3.4.4.
this is why i have already switched from Godot 3.4.4 to Godot 3.5 — even though Godot 3.5 is in the pre-stable 'RC 4' stage.

¡wish me good luck!~ 🙂

that seems crazy but animations sometimes are little Ziggy. hope you will find a way to smooth them 💖💖💖💖

In every one I heard the same problem: portability! Juan Linietsky should be take more attention on this. Nevertheless a very and really really nice project. Keep it up.
