Boondocking - Building DIY Truck Camper - Part 3

Not a huge update, but my first chance to film something in a while. The camper needs to be ready to go for the end of Feb so, it's go time. I'm going to fibreglass it and hopefully have it ready to go and looking as less shitty as possible!

Hi Steve! Great job the camper cap! For the insulation job ...may I suggest not cutting the foam board panels to fit tight in between the framing but give the foam panels 1/4 to 3/8 gap all the way around the sides or edges... glue the panels in place to the inside plywood and after glue is set and dried, spray foam the gap around the foam board edges with high pressure spray foam you get in a can.... this should eliminate most of the squeaking problems between the battens and the edges of the foam board. Looks good Steve, I've been building my similar camper right along with yours but down in florida. I used a 8" cardboard tube at the sleeper bottom with a couple of 2x4's inside for support. A lot easier then trying to bend plywood. the top bend went well with 1/4" plywood and then tied that in at the bottom cardboard tube which gives a nice aesthetic curve as you suggested. won't be a weather issue with fiberglass encasing everything.

Great build, can't wait to see the end result. The fiberglass will waterproof, add rigidity and enhance the grain of the wood...it'll be the Chris-Craft of the road!!
