How to spend $100 on two things and add another $300 in everything else equipment from your house.

Ditch the cot an put a piece 3/4IN Plywood on the bed rails then just put a piece of foam down for padding then you have plenty of storage under and a place to sleep up top

Always bring a fully charged jump box and a tire air compressor that can run of the lighter plug in the truck if you are parking somewhere remote. Flat tire or dead battery are very common thing to wake up to in cold weather.

You are a decent human being for placing the cart in the cart corral.

I lived comfortably in a van for 3 1/2 months this past summer/ fall. What an experience, You're going to love it Mav!

I love a basic truck cap camper build. I started into RVing the same way and may end-up back under a truck cap as its by far the stealthiest way to urban camp and the most versatile for backwoods boodocking. Insulated blackout curtains and a carpet on the truck bed will both insulate, deaden the outside sound and give you privacy. These improvements will add immensely to the "livability" of your truck cap camping. Camp on!!

Integrating what you already have is a key part to making it affordable. Love to see your roots and the beginnings of “Mav” 🕉

Love going back and seeing where it all started!! I just upgraded my setup at the end of 2023!! I do not miss the $750 setup ( toper included in that price!) but it got me out all over the country so i wont complain about it!

Those propane heaters release a lot of water vapor when they operate, also curtains or other window coverings help with insulation.

Liked your video. My pickup is similar. I have a camper shell with a bit more raised roof and the same type of carpet for the camper shell and the bottom of the truck bed. My pickup is a Chevy Silverado and I found I had two places for a battery (for the truck battery and one other), so I added a deep cell battery in the empty place under the hood, and had it wired up so that it recharges the deep cell battery when driving on the road, but is separate from the truck battery so that the truck battery doesn't become depleted. In the back I had had DC cables extended from the front deep cell battery to the camper shell area and I have an inverter there. I have a inside portable A/C that I have vented to the sliding window between the camper shell and the cab of the truck and a generator that I can place on a platform in the back (from the back hitch) to power it. Exhaust hot air is vented in the space between the camper shell and the cab of the truck. This has worked out by having the back of the camper nice and cool. I live in Florida so keeping cool is more important than keep warm (except it get's cold around New Years). I know, it isn't much. I came from Michigan so I do know cold and snow. Just some ideas. If you're interested in the dual battery setup, I should have the link I used to set everything up.

I saw one guy stick bubble wrap on his windows....people cant see in but the bubble wrap lets light in. Just cut some strips of bubble wrap to cover all your windows and when not in use, tuck it up under your cargo net.

Use a 5 gallon bucket cut out sides for air flow and but a used heater core in it. Connect hoses to truck heater
