WINTER CAMPING During A BLIZZARD - Wood Stove for Heat / Stuck in Snow with my DIY Travel Trailer

I knew exploring southern Utah during February was a crap shoot. Weather could be unpredictable. During this video we hit one of the worst blizzards the area had seen in 30 years. Luckily, our Grizzly Cubic Wood Stove kept us warm and we were able to make it a great experience.

Such a well planned and executed build! Love it, so cozy and clever use of space, especially the dual access kitchen stuff

Years ago, we hunted deer in NYS's Adirondack Mountains. We towed a popup trailer behind a 1969 GMC Jimmy in late fall, early winter. Snowfall was often heavy with lake effect snow coming off Lake Ontario. Winter averaged 200 inches a year. We were 5 miles in from plowed maintained road and 2 miles in from a decent gravel road. The 2 mile logging road was over steep solid granite rock, thru beaver sloughs, mudholes with inches of ice which broke under us and up to a foot of snow. We always put chains on all four wheels before heading in to be prepared before we got stuck. We sometimes had to use the winch. We had log chains, tow straps, clevises, spade shovels, snow shovels, axes, chain saws, wedges, pry bars, high lift jacks, ropes, and snatch blocks. No one was going to come help us so we had to be prepared to help ourselves. What we mostly had was 40 years of experience going in with a box trailer towed by a 2WD small farm tractor and people who were from a family of loggers. They had to cross a river and go in a mile deeper to a cabin. They expected to get stuck somewhere along the way.

while in snow country keep a shovel and salt bags to spread around your wheels when you park and a alcohol & water spary bottle for your wind shield to get reed of the ice when you get ready to leave keep your wipers up off the wind shield so they don't freeze to your wind shield

Wow this will definitely be an anniversary trip you will always remember and talk about the most. Good thing you’re a prepared person. Very beautiful though regardless.😍

I JUST LOVE ALL THESE WINTER CAMPING VIDEOS AS I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO DO THIS VERY THING WITH A KEROSENE HEATER INSTEAD OF A A WOOD STOVE. SADLY MY HEALTH WON'T ALLOW THIS.

With so many people spending 80K or over a 100K on campers, it's nice to see a home built one, very comfy and no frills.

Being able to access slide out kitchen from the inside is a super cool idea 👍

That's a great set up inside the trailer. Plenty of walking around room. Comfy to cook in too. Great vid. 😅😅😅😅

Ive been meaning to tell you in the last few videos. For a DIY camper it is very good looking and mainline looking ! GREAT JOB ! It doesn't look DIY at all . Can't wait to see the inside when finished

The southwest is beautiful in the winter times (this includes Utah). I've lived in northern Montana where the temps one winter day was -45! Being from AZ that's a bit chilly! But in AZ we do get our bad winter days as well and I have been in Flagstaff AZ in a white out blizzard and know how stressful that can be for driving! It's definitely nice to have a camper with a wood burning stove and conveniences of a shower and toilet. Thanks for sharing!

Bryce Canyon looks really different in the winter, cool snow formations among the red rocks.

Dude that’s an awesome setup. It seems like there’s a good amount of room in there the way you’ve got it set up.
