Blood Sugar Levels

There are two types of blood sugar levels that may be measured. The first is the blood glucose level we get from doing finger prick blood glucose tests. These give us a reading of how high our levels are at that very point in time.

The second is the HbA1c reading, which gives a good idea of our average control over a period of 2 to 3 months.

The target blood glucose levels vary a little bit depending on your type of diabetes and between adults and children.

Where possible, try to achieve levels of between 4 and 7 mmol/L before meals and under 8.5 mmol/L after meals

The target level for HbA1c is under 48 mmol/mol (or 6.5% in the old units).

Hi :) Praise to God my blood sugar levels are now between 5.0 - 5.8 mmol/L. I went on the Low-Carb High-Fat (LCHF) diet (as suggested by the dietdoctor website) and am maintaining these levels throughout the day (fasting, post-meal, random finger prick glucometer checks) without any medications. Have to say, yeps, its against conventional wisdom. But quite some research has shown that its actually what everyone with insulin resistance should do ... Just sharing :)

I’m in a hyperglycemia danger zone and was in a diabetic coma almost dying over a week on a ventilator!

How do I find HA1c when my blood numbers on my monitor are testing in the hundreds? Does the machine give the HA1c's too? If not where do I translate my readings in the hundreds into the lower numbered HA1c's? Thank you.
