Slow things down if you're struggling with fingerstyle blues. There are so many things to learn that, let's face it, aren't all that easy. Getting your thumb under control, building independence and developing the stamina you need to fingerpick a full song aren't easy. But why make things more difficult by playing too fast? That leads to errors and can actually slow down your over all progress. So, have a look at this example and take things nice and slow at first. Then, as you build your technique, speed things up Slow down the speed up.

I am finding the picking hand problems, so many forget to tell beginners how and where to have your fingers and thumb, thumb sticking out in front of your fingers, palm away from the strings, palm on the strings, do I just try and figure it out, or is there a proper position to get muscle from a baffled finger style beginner

What a great lesson in every regard. Thank you for this. You explain and combine all of the elements so well. I’m just mastering your lesson on Deep River Blues so this will be fun to start on.
