Ammo companies spent millions of dollars to prevent that happening esp after that gun tended to blow hands off if you let the spring go too hard in the ammo tube

Worst that could happen is the gun powder ignites and you have a few sparks flying off your chest but since it wasn’t ignited properly it won’t fire the projectile

i always wondered about this but with grenades instead of 12 guage rounds. I play a game called dayz, and you can put greneades on your plate carrier. if a player were to shoot the grenade off your carrier, it blows and you go with it. always wondered how accurate that really was.

If someone shoots your close range with a shotgun, the shells infront of your chest are your smallest problem

As a conscript APC driver in Denmark in the late 80'th, a blind cartridge had fallen into the heater duct - and exploded (cracked open) inside there, caused only by the heat.

Now that we know it's not plausible, we need to know if it's possible... You need to try and rig things to make it happen; things that seem highly unlikely but might make it happen (Mythbusters style).
Like: what if you were shot from the side and it did hit the primer on the shell sitting on your vest? If you use too big a gauge/caliber and it tore up the shell before it could ignite, would a smaller gauge/caliber work?
