Also keep in mind a steel casing is much different than brass. However my uncle did step on one and it didnt make it though his boot he also says he supposed plenty of them didn't go off but not everyone was so lucky.

I read a report a long time ago. Two lines items were highlighted 1) in combat a dead person is easier to bypass than an injured person screaming in pain and asking for help 2) an injured person equals 6 people required total in evacuation and behind lines support. The rport was on why mines should injure rather than kill.
