Why does Homosexuality Evolve?

Homosexual sex doesn’t lead to reproduction. So given that evolution by natural selection favours genes that increase an organism's reproductive success, why does evolution not drive homosexuality to extinction?

I really dont get why some people think its a choice to be homosexual. You just, are, homosexual. You dont get a choice in the matter and its not healthy to force heterosexuality because there wont be any attraction or sexual love in it.

I may be a straight Christian but I've grown to respect everyone else for what their sexual orientation is. You have your interests, and I have mine and that's okay.

Why do these evolutionary theories mostly if not completely revolve exclusively around male homosexuality? Is it because of lack of research on female homosexuality?

It's really interesting because I can see the genetic component firsthand with my family. I'm gay and my mom's brother (my uncle) was gay also. Ironically enough, my mom named me after him XD it's like I was destined to carry on the gay legacy

Very interesting. As someone who grew up in a more socially conservative household, this was always something that confused me. Evolution-wise, it always seemed counterproductive.
