I was traveling in Russia in 2009. I was so surprised at how welcoming the Russian people were to we Americans. They were very anxious to pursue economic opportunities with the west back then. We had a window there for our leaders to do the right thing and integrate Russia into the world economic community. It could have been a boom for both countries. But they failed us miserably so here we are today.

These Tech guys need to be brought under control. It is too dangerous to believe that they won't just get more and more powerful until they start believing they are godlike. The third Star Trek episode (Where No Man Has Gone Before) in 1966 deals with this theme. I believe it is well worth watching and considering. The concept that Life Imitates Art is well founded.

Bremmer great on contemporary geopolitics and techno-dystopia but pretty ordinary on answering the question "How did we get here?"Bill Browder wrote the definitive reasons for post Yeltsin collapse in Russia which cried out for a 90's style Marshall Plan a la Poland to help Russia more equitably set up institutions to regulate the privatisation of all those Soviet resources industries. This was a project a pre G zero world ought to have achieved.

An excellent frank and critical analysis. Thank you. The thought of both America and China being held in balance by the rest of the World is most heartening. It just show how far America has fallen and how quickly China has risen in the World order, although I'm still not sure what G Zero means.

Sadly I’m a student of history and all the signs are aligning towards a world war in the next few years of Trump’s presidency that was seen in the first two world wars. The pandemic, the instability of economic turmoils, political instability in first world economies and rise of strong man politics, USA isolationist policies, countries aligning toward military alliances into pacts, appeasement of the rising bullies: Putin invaded Georgia, Ukraine 2014 and 2022. He’s pushing further and further gaining more and more grounds. China openly declared taking Taiwan by force and continues military built up.
