LG's UltraGear OLED 27 (27GR95QE-B) is the first 27-inch OLED gaming monitor on the market, and it sounds as good as it is. Still, there are some problems with brightness and text clarity that hold it back from a flat-out recommendation.

Hey everyone! Thanks for watching. Wanted to point out a mistake in the video - the OLED 27 doesn't use the triangle subpixel layout that QD-OLED panels like the Alienware 34 QD-OLED use.

Seeing a lot of replies that the remote came with a battery, too. Possible this was just a packaging slip-up for my review unit. No battery was definitely frustrating, but I think the bigger issue here is that you NEED the remote to control the display instead of though a joystick.

If OLED "burn in" is really not an issue, then LG should really include it in warranty than leave it open for suspicion.

Just got my hands on one, and I am blown away. Moving from a 3 year old IPS display to this is incredible.

I've used an Asus 27"/1440p/165hz/ TN panel for nearly five years now. Ever since I got my C1 in late 2021 I've been saving so I can bring my PC gaming display more in-line with my console one. I bought one the other week and it begins shipping here in the UK in April.

I mostly use my monitor for gaming in a dark room and I've been running my current monitor at 40% brightness anyway. I can totally see why this monitor may not suit certain use cases, but I think it's the right one for me.

Extremely happy with mine. Upgraded from a 1440p ips panel and just the colors when gaming are amazing and not to mention the super fast response times are crazy

This monitor is an amazing upgrade from IPS. It’s fantastic if your main focus is using it for gaming. If it’s for productivity, the matte coating and subpixel layout will bother you.

I don’t have problems at all with the brightness. I keep it at 60/100 during the day and night.

Text clarity is definitely noticeable and my eyes aren’t a fan of it, but imo it’s a fair trade off for the gaming experience. Games look incredible. Im mainly a tarkov player but I ran some RE Village and CP 2077 as well, and the level of detail on this monitor is arguably unmatched. I’m in a semi dim room so I don’t notice the brightness or matte but if I were in a brighter room, I could see the limited brightness being an issue. Remote is fine. It works well, easy to navigate settings, and comes with a battery/ screwdriver. Review products usually don’t go through the same qa process as retail (makes no sense, you’d think they’d want the items being reviewed to be in the best shape) which is why they likely forgot to include the screwdriver/ battery.

Honestly, my only issue with this product is the pricing. For less you can get a 42" LG C2, which has a much better feature-set. LG display should have come out with a 1440p 120Hz 27" monitor if it would mean an averagely priced gaming monitor ($250-$500 imo)

It's def not a productive monitor but a top tier gaming monitor for sure. The HDR will blow you away and the monitor is plenty bright enough! Best I've ever seen.

The remote also uses a tiny screw to access the battery compartment that seems very easy to strip plus my remote from my C2 will turn my monitor off and on when turning on the TV so keep that in mind as well.

I just bought this monitor & gamer 1 is the most accurate for HDR. Gamer 2 oversaturates everything + blows out highlights but does get brighter. I used Windows HDR calibration tool & it does help reduce the degree that gamer 2 highlights get blown out, but you're still left with major oversaturation in gamer 2.

No calibration needed for gamer 1 for HDR.

For SDR i use the SDR setting & it seems pretty accurate when compared to my other monitor's.

Pretty happy with mine in the first week of using it. Brightness is just fine. The only brightness complaint I have is the autodimming in HDR. It kicks in when most of the screen has a bright image, like a bright cloudy sky. It sucks that this can’t be disabled the way you can with LG TVs in the service menu.

I got a battery included in the box for the remote, I’m surprised to hear others have not!

Burn In scares me, I like to video edit and I'm kinda OCD when I notice edges with colour bleeding / pixelation. Is it going to be noticeable for Video Editors?

Well, even if it takes "hundrets of hours" to have burn-in-artifacts: using a desktop OS *will* display certain elements stationary many hours every day. For example having a statusbar visible for 4 hours a day means 800 hours per year if you use the display 200 days per year.

You don’t need the remote. There is software you can download to control the monitor that works fine.

I am definitely going to buy this monitor, once you go black you never go back. But I am probably waiting for the second iteration to let them work out the first few hicups and waiting for the price to drop.
