Thanks, I've been waiting for that review! Nothing unexpected. A bit disappointed with the clear-type text issue, but again, nothing unexpected. If I decide to shell the money for it, I would definitely NOT be using it as a productivity monitor. I'd save it for gaming and movie watching.

"I know alot of you guys have been waiting for this review" Understatement of 2023 Tim, i have watched every other review on youtube and 5 or 6 of them more than once. I have never clicked so fast on a monitor review!

Thank you for such a comprehensive test! Other channels do one or 2 tests and claim it's the best monitor there ever was but this video really helped me notice all the good and bads of the monitor.

This is the review I was waiting for, thank you! I think I'm going to wait for the next generation of OLED monitors, but this is exactly why I watch your channel.

I'm surprised the calibration from the factory is that bad on this monitor. It's usually much better on other LG monitors.

In my experience with having a glass covered display for my laptop, it's not enough to just mitigate direct lights sources reflection but also just setting directly under a light source causes a reflection of yourself.

Excellent video analysis, just what I've been waiting for. I was mainly curious to see if it did improve upon the Asus PG42UQ's horrendous stock HDR setting implementation (washed out colors/poor vibrancy post firmware V033). It looks like it does offer decent HDR improvement so I don't see why Asus can't fix it in a future firmware update soon. Hopefully we get 32-42" 4k240 16:9 OLED in the next couple years and a 38" 1600p UWD QD-OLED variant from AW.

This monitor uses a MicroLens Array panel, which is a new W-OLED panel type being introduced this year on the G3 TV line-up. It's not exactly the same tech as the C2 42". MLA allows for more light to pass through even with smaller pixel aperture ratios thanks to a coating made of convex microlenses with a ratio of a lens per single pixel group.

Calibration changing when changing brightness, is likely because as you increase brightness, relatively more White sub-pixel output is added. This would not be an issue with QD-OLED panels since they have no White sub-pixels. Too bad those have such a strange pixel arrangement. For the desktop a normal RGB stripe OLED would be the best option.

Text clarity issue is a deal breaker for me. Hopefully it can be fixed.
(EDIT: Guess it's unlikely. No buy from me then.)

Finally a proper review of this monitor. No other review I have seen so far did touche on my 2 biggest concerns. The pixel structure and most importantly if it had the same enjoying ABL as my CX. Im tempted by this but since i spend more and more time coding and les and less gaming I might pass.
Great job!

had mine ordered and almost shipped before I canceled. Went with Alienware's 34 oled for the same price instead and glad I did. The 1 year warranty with LG didnt seem enough compared to Dell's 3 year. I thought the ultrawide was going to be a bit much for me but now I love it

Best monitor I have ever had. People say it isnt bright enough and I swear I feel like my eyes will burn out some of the time cause of the brightness for me and have to down to 80 percent brightness, so no idea what is up with that.

Amazing review, Tim! The depth of information is fantastic.

It goes to show that you can't judge a monitor purely by its spec sheet. On paper this model seemed perfect, but clearly it has a handful of issues that might be deal-breakers at $1000.

Sounds fairly good.
After the dust settles and we have multiple 27 inch oleds on the market (I believe msi and asus will have this one?) it will probably start looking really good to get one of these for 800 or so.

great review as usual. Thank you. LG's warranty is a bit of a bummer. 2 years and doesn't even cover burn in!
