The Structure / B-pillar performs better in this test than most vehicles do in the original, less demanding side-impact test.

Important to note that this scores better than even the Volvo XC90(granted it’s a little old at this point, but still). The Volvo measured 18.5cm from B pillar to centerline of drivers seat, this measured 30, indicating significantly less B pillar deformation

It’s crazy that the Tesla Model Y did even better in this new test vs the old test. Test measurements show even less intrusion and the structure held up even better. Looks like Tesla over engineered their car for situations and crash scenarios worse than IIHS’s new test.
