Dr Bob brings you SCP Foundation APOLLYON Class object, SCP-001 - When Day Breaks Animation.

After an event occurred that resulted in roughly 6.8 billion casualties within the first twenty-four hours, SCP-001 is the designation given to the Sun. When interfacing with the light produced by SCP 001, living organisms melt at the point of contact, with the effect spreading until the entire organism is converted into a form resembling liquefied wax. Organisms exposed to SCP001 though, do not perish.

Dude. It' can't happen to the whole northern hemisphere at once. TIME ZONES. Some of those area's are going to be at night while others are in the day.

Hey Dr! I just want to say that I'm very glad you covered one of my favorite SCP's, I love the storytelling!
