So happy that you have chosen to keep pushing through all of the crazy negativity that you have been experiencing recently! Please keep being yourself and doing what you to do! Haters will be Haters n try to drag you down to make themselves feel better about themselves unfortunately. Just continue to be the shining Light that you are and continuing to inspire people! Thanks so much for all that you do!

I always knew basic Red Heart had to be washed to become soft. But it survives many washings. I still have slippers made by my Grandma back in the 70s that are squishy soft and nearly indestructible with double strand soles.

I love that you expressed liking it less without “bashing” it, and you support the people who like the red heart yarn. And it’s great you made this video!!!!

I never cared for RH myself. But I made a beanie out of it. Well, when I washed it. I was totally surprised how soft it was. Thanks Mikey ❤️

Thanks so much for the info! I didn’t realize that the “With love” line was basically the upgraded version. This is so helpful!

I grew up using RHSS as the staple yarn in our home, it was cost effective and their colors were very consistent. You could buy more of the same color a year later and know for certain it would match. You didn't feel like you had to cough up enough for the whole project in one go. It's a bit rough but I never minded i guess because that what I was used to using. Sadly, I feel that their color consistency is no longer what it used to be.

Mikey, I grew up with Red Heart super saver. I didn''t and like the feel, but it has gotten better. You don't have to wash it. I put in the drier on a low setting with a dryer sheet. It makes all the difference and when I give as a gift it feels soft and smells great. Most of my family and friends have pets. They need something that is washable and dryable. I now use all different yarns (shop sales) but I still go back to RH for the great color selection.

Agreed. RH SS is rough but since Yarnspirations bought RH it has changed quality— it’s some better. When washed 3-4 times it gets softer. I have an Afghan that is 45 years old, a wedding present. It’s all RH because that’s what we could get back then. It’s extremely soft now after many years of love and washes. I use RHSS for yarn bombing It lasts and colors stay.

I like using Red Heart because of the incredible color range and also how they coordinate with the variegated yarns. There is even a chart that lists the variegated yarns and the colors that go with that. I do like with With Love but the color range is lacking. The same with Red Heart Soft. That is also a nice yarn to use but with a limited color range.

My go-to yarn. I have made stuff with this since 1971. Love it so much..all the colors, !

I agree. Most people who use the red heart super saver know that it softens up after a couple washes. And I too prefer softer yarns like the with love. 💕

I have to admit this is why I do use Hobby Lobby's I Love This Yarn. To me, it's always very buttery in my hands.

I crocheted an entire amigurumi zoo out of super saver. Truly stands the test of time. It was perfect for this and affordable.

RH SS was always about the only thing I've bought new, due to being so rural, the closest place with yarn is 27 miles away, at a Wal-Mart.

Except many, many years ago, there was a dollar-variety-store that was sort of like Dollar General, but a wider variety of crafts stuff, called Duckwall's. They had a yarn brand that was cheap like RH but softer. Then again, that was decades ago. Damn, I miss that place!

However... my new favorite source for yarn is the thrift store about 3 blocks from my monthly doctor's appointment. I can find everything from natural sourced to acrylic, and even "fancier" stuff with shiny strands or extra fluff or all sorts of stuff, often for 25% of (or less than that, on their $1 clearance racks) what the yarn would cost new.

It's very satisfying finding something I know is made with expensive yarn on the $1 rack! Also quite satisfying deconstructing the stitches, whether knit or crochet. 😊

Anyway, I hope you talked to your doctor and are feeling a bit better!

Hey there Michael, Thanks as usual for the update I really didn’t know that. You continue to live up to my expectations. I’m glad you’re out of the funk, it’s difficult I know but don’t let the negative nanny get, you are bigger and better than they could ever be. You are the best ❤😊

Thank you for the honest video and being able to have a preference without bashing. I love RHSS because of the amazing color range and being able to pick up more of a color if i miss judge how much I'll need. (I like making blankets but freehand so no pattern guiding me on how much yarn to pick up). It is also what i learned from my grandma (on moms side) to crochet with and is what my great grandmother (on moms side, passed before i was a kid) used, and we have blankets she made that we still use, super soft and look beand new. It gets nice and soft after a wash or two, and is machine washable and dryable. (Since i like to give as gifts its nice to be able to give something that doesn't need special care when life happens)
