What Linux Distro are you currently using?

You said that Fedora has a rolling release model, but that is incorrect. Fedora actually has scheduled releases in its main edition. It does have an edition with a rolling release model, but that's not the edition that's promoted on its web-site.

On a different note, I'm surprised you didn't mention Linux Mint, which is a pretty good version for people coming from Windows.

You've got a natural talent for connecting with your audience. Impressive!

I really like the minimalistic approach of Fedora, yet being almost at the bleeding edge of updates. I always want new Features dropping soon but not being buggy.

My second choice is OpenSUSE Tumbleweed. More up do date, a rolling release but still very stable.

Hi everyone, I have a question, I started learning Azure Microsoft Az-900, networking and I would like to learn Linux. I'm a complete beginner and I don't know which distribution I should start with? Can anyone advise me? My goal is to work in Azure in the future.

I'm currently using Mint but will switch to Slackware tomorrow so I can have a 'Linux of the SubGenius' sticker on my laptop.

That's both the beauty and curse about Linux, the sheer choice that people have with regard to the number of distrbutions.

Which distro is right for you? It can be any as long as you feel comfortable using it. For me i feel the most comfortable using debian.

It been about 2 months since I pulled through the habit of distro hopping. I use Ubuntu nowadays and plan to keep using it. Candidly, It's not that bad even with snaps.

How do Slackware and Debian compare? Seems like you made same points for both of them.

Its easy, if your new to LInux then its Debian, LMDE, Fedora, Pop!_OS. If you are an intermediate user then EndeavourOS, more advanced Vanilla Arch. Ubuntu is on the never install list as they want to be MS or Apple and force things on people to try and do it.

Long time Debian user here, though I've used all major distros and still use more than two for different tasks.

You misspoke right at the beginning, Slackware is not based on SuSe but SoftLanding. It's also a stretch to call Suse the first enterprise distro, as that's not the market it was serving when it was first released (I did buy a copy after all). RedHat started the next year and did directly target business infrastructure from the beginning.

It's strange that you set Fedora apart from RedHat though.

I keep to Community Distros. In other words I avoid all Corporate stuff.

Two things keep intriguing me in this world: 1) number of Linux distributions; 2) number of Christian denominations - I began with SLS over 30 years ago, quickly moved to Slackware, has been through many alternatives mostly Debian or Debian derivatives now using Gentoo :-)

Fedora Workstation. Debian Server. Preference is for vanilla Gnome on Wayland.
