Bloated Linux Distros!

When we talk about Linux distributions, sometimes we refer to them as lightweight, and sometimes we call them heavy or bloated. But words like 'light' and 'heavy' come with their own emotional baggage, and people often perceive lightweight distros like they are inherently better.

mint is an amazing operating system. It manages to balance a good user experience without too much bloat.

At least Linux "Bloatware" is stuff you will actually use, not Facebook and Edge

"bloated" means it's full of things you don't need, and sometimes even including things you actively do not want if given the choice (e.g. telemetry)

This is what led me to install gentoo as my first ever experience with Linux. I got it running with the bare minimum in 3.5 months. Hubris is a dangerous thing but the determination it can give allows you to do things you wouldn’t or simply couldn’t otherwise

If i think heavy/bloated its the recourses it uses during the use of the OS out of the box, the space is usually survivable

Personally I’m more a fan of heavier distros but lightweight can be amazing too!

Garuda Linux is really underrated. It is an excellent Distro for gaming, and is based off of Arch.

I do recommend so called "bloated" distros to beginners, saying they're a great option for newer users instead. My picks to recommend are usually Linux Mint, Pop!_OS and Fedora. I do like arch though, since building my setup from scratch allows me to make everything work exactly how I like it without the overhead of pre-installed packages.

Ive never thought of a "heavy disto" referring to the disk space it takes up. I think of it as how efficiently it runs and how much RAM it uses.

I use Lubuntu and I'm just an every day user, not a low level programmer or anything like that, just normal joe

i remember that a lot of time ago, i tried xfce.. or maybe lxde... because it was lightweight and i didnt had much ram...
then i opened inkscape, inkscape didnt supported the toolkit for my desktop enviroment, and as an result it loaded QT, so i ended up using more ram instead of less because the system loaded 2 toolkits at the ram at the same time...
