When you consider. that this film was made only 6 years after the first talkie in 1927 it truly was ahead of its time. The removal of the bandages scene showing his transparent 'head' was a better effect than some 50 years later.

Fun fact(s) about how this was done. When the Invisible Man (played by Claude Rains) had no clothes on, the effect was done by the use of wires. But when he had some of this clothes on or was taking off his clothes they had Rains wear a completely black velvet suit against a black velvet background. Then the “black velvet” shot was combined with another shot of the location where the scene takes place! Also, Rains was a claustrophobe, so the filming of many scenes was difficult for him and it was difficult to breathe in the suit. So a double was used in a few scenes.

Transparent. See Thru. James Whale wanted THAT voice? Claude Rains. RIP both. Oh and the whole cast now I suppose.

Unbeknownst to most, the invisible man soon just stopped caring, let go and became grossly overweight.
