This video is a combination of several videos I have done on screening plants. These are the plants that can be used to block a neighbor's property, create a wind break, or be used on the corner of a foundation planting.

Suddenly I realized WHY ypu named your pup, HOLLY. The holly varieties plants are familiar old friends to you guys. Now I get it. ❤

I just love attending horticulture school, School of Plants, by the Putnams.

I’m so glad I found your channel. We are planning to install 400’ of privacy hedge on my property in Houston, TX this year and because of your videos, I have decided not to plant 150 of the same plant!!!

We used Tea Olives and Schip Laurels for our screen and we used Green Giant Arborvitea, Carolina Sapphire and Yoshino Cryptomeria trees along our back area to screen out the railroad tracks. Everything is 4 years old and really starting to fill in nicely😊

This is a much needed video! Personally I feel like this is one of the most important topics because privacy and a good backdrop are key to enjoying our outdoor spaces. Also picking the right screening plant is key to avoiding maintenance headaches. Just such an important video! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this!

Thanks for including Magnolia Stellar Ruby and Serendipity. I don't think many people know that there are now Magnolias dense & compact enough to serve as screening plants.

Thank you for this video, I need to add some screening / hedges to the garden. I keep pausing the video and researching the plants, it's gonna take a while to get through the whole video 😂

Thanks Jim. I am in zone 6 Massachusetts and did not know i could grow a camellia here. i am always envious of the plants when you show them. I have ordered one winter snowman to see how it does. and will get more if it survives it's first winter. i will protect it from the winds. thanks so much for the great video.

Zone 7a/b here. I'm in a heavy deer populated area...avoid the Chinese holly. I planted mine as part of a screen and the deer here love it

Your videos have been so helpful for me! A transplant from FL, and after many years I'm still learning so much about this planting zone. I've gardened for many years and now actively landscaping my yard/garden, I've gained so much great information and have purchased some of the shrubs/trees you've featured after watching your videos. Love camellias, viburnums, lorapetalum, and so many more! Needed this screening shrub video. Thank you!

I love these shrub videos. Some, I've never heard of or seen in nurseries.

Great video! Thanks for mentioning you have an accessible video for lower zone plants. Living in a 6B on top of a hill that catches a lot of wind, I like to plant down a zone. I have learned so much from watching your videos.
