Lies The Motley Crue Movie Told You

Netflix’s The Dirt is a biographical comedy-drama about arguably one the most popular and controversial bands of the '80s and '90s, Motley Crue.

The movie does its best to depict the legendary rockers' rise to fame, their infamous offstage antics, and off-the-wall partying lifestyles. The band members were played by Douglass Booth, Game of Thrones' Iwan Rheon, Daniel Webber, and rapper Machine Gun Kelly.

However, although the movie did its best to capture the essence of Motley Crue, it didn't get everything right. Here are lies The Dirt told you about Motley Crue.

What did you think about the new Motley Crue movie, The Dirt?

For anyone who knows what Mick Mars went through physically, then nothing but absolute respect should be given to him. Ankylosing Spondylitis is so incredibly painful & debilitating that I am not even sure how he did what he did for as many years as he did it. I couldn't imagine there would be enough alcohol and meds on the planet to get through it. Mad props to Mick Mars.

In the movie Tommy did mention he was in a band called Suite 19 when Mick first shows up for the audition

I Personally loved the film version, yes a lot was altered, yes a lot was left out but portraying 30years in hour and half I think they did just fine. The actors playing the band were brilliant and pretty much had them down to a T. All of the above differences however are mentioned in the book of the same name. The book is very detailed, it made me laugh, cry, cringe and feel utterly disgusted at times. I think the movie dumbed much of their journey down yet still managed to highlight just what an awesome band they are. The Crue are currently smashing their way back into peoples lives from the back of this movie and opening up opportunities for a younger generation to appreciate just how fine they are.

They did mention that tommy was in a band called sweet 19, because in the movie mick makes fun of the name

I remember seeing Motley Crue about 7 years ago. The second is mick hit the last note of the last song on his guitar he tossed his guitar off and laid flat on an amp with his hands on his face. Curtain fell the rest of the band said it’s thank yous. Mick was in so much pain but he finished the show. Nothing but respect for him for then on

Click-baity title. I love the book way more than the movie, but claiming they were "lies" instead of cleanups for a movie version is a bit of a stretch.

Another slight inaccuracy in the dirt was Skylar herself. She appears in the scene when Vince watches the TV broadcasting Sixx's "death". Sixx overdosed in 1987, but Skylar wasn't born until 1991.

Saw Motley Crue live in Sydney, May 1990 with their Dr Feelgood tour. Highlights include...the entire set, especially Tommy Lee's drum solo strapped in, upside down above the crowd. Awesome show.

I’m only watching this video because I’m tired of the thumbnail just staring at me for the past two weeks...

Rather than lies it just sounds like ways to tell the story and still keep it at a reasonable length.

I can honestly say Mick Mars is a really great guy. When they were on the shout at the 🤘devil tour I went backstage and met them all. Mick sat and drank a beer with me and talked to me for quite a while. It was a fun and entertaining conversation and Mick was very much a gentleman in comparison to his band mates 😀😊. Nikki was really sweet and Tommy and Vince were on the trail looking to hook up with some other chick's. Lol 😆🤣. I had a good time just chilling with Mick ❤

The one thing I loved is that they let Mick Mars be impossibly and effortlessly cool.
Which? He absolutely is, in real life.

nikki sixx said it himself that someone spit on vince and they fought the guys

Talk about loyalty, friendship, and dedication to your fellow band members. Nikki Sixx allowed Mick Mars to go through a hip replacement and therapy to learn tp play again to keep him in Motley Crue instead of seeking another guitarist! That's awesome!!

Yeah but you’ve got to remember they’re putting Mötley Crües career into one 1h45 minute movie and of course there is gonna be parts they miss

They need to do a movie about Guns N Roses. They are one of the most iconic bands in Rock history. Their up bringing of the band would make for such a great documentary.

It’s so weird seeing things with Vince Neil because when I was younger my dad worked at Vince Neil ink (Vince’s tattoo shop on the strip) and I really didn’t know about his band and only really saw him as my dads boss lol
