The Mystery of Jesus' Genealogy

Anyone who has ever read the birth narratives of Jesus found in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke will notice that the two genealogies are quite different. Matthew's Gospel has less names, different names and even includes women. Luke's Gospel has more names, different names and no women. What's going on here? Watch to find out!

Mt 1:16 clearly says that Joseph's father is Jacob, whereas Lk 3:23 CLEARLY says that Joseph's father is Heli. Sorry, but any odd interpretation to make these contradictory statements compatible is just jumping through hoops. Read them for yourself. Only people with the pre-existing conclusion that they must be both correct could not see this. And claiming that anyone could check that they were not correct back then is also outrageous. Both gospels where composed ca. 75 years after the fact in some Greek-speaking region outside Palestine. How on earth could first-century readers fact-check the genealogy of a random Palestinian dude (Joseph son of who-knows), born over 100 years earlier?

Moreover, Nativity stories in Matthew an Luke are anyway completely different (e. g. Herdod vs. Quirinus, Egypt vs. Jerusalem). The genealogy is just another difference.

I think it might not be implying that Mary had done something promiscuous as much as it may be saying that people thought she had. Particularly because many people thought Mary was lying about her conception since it was an anomaly.

Also, 2 things 1. So glad your videos are back 2. What is your shirt this time?

He was not the messiah, but a king just like he said. Using the Bible for accurate information is not the way to read it. Read it for the stories and message

Glad to see you back!! Question, if Nazareth was "branch town" and the Messiah wouldve been expected to come from there why do we have the expectation that he will be born in Bethlehem? Also why do people essentially pick on Narazeth saying "what good can come from it" if it's the place where people are born from the lineage of David?

I’ve seen on TV years ago that caskets were found in Jerusalem bearing the names of Joseph, Mary and Jesus. Apparently, the tradition was, if you could afford it, to be buried with other family members. Does this mean that the biblical burial in a cave was just a temporary measure until an inground burial could be performed. My understanding is that Jewish law required interment before sundown?

You're using Jewish based Gematria to "decode" a new testament scripture which was originally written in Greek....

Perhaps your explanation can account for the different list of generations between David and Joseph, but shouldn't Luke and Matthew have the same list from Abraham to David or was Matthew more interested in symbology than historical accuracy?

Nice stories about two fictitious family trees.
Methuselah only exists in the Greek translation, not in the Hebrew original.
Between Hezron and Amminadab lies Ram in Matthew, Arni and Admin in Luke.
In Matthew there are 27 generations from David (~1000 BCE) to Jesus, in Luke 42. This means that the fathers in Matthew would have been on average ~37 years old when their sons were born, in Luke ~23 years.

The oldest Gospel, Mark, does not mention the name of Jesus father. John, the last Gospel, does not mention the name of Jesus mother.

In Revelation, John also uses gematria! 666 is code for Emperor Nero

Jesus is a divine being, divine beings have ZERO human genealogy. It's that simple.
You can of course, make up anything you like to satisfy a narrative though.

I believe that you have the assumption that Jesus was a historical person and was biologically born. Because of this assumption, your interpretations have been tainted by this assumption. If you take the assumption that these character ( in tthe Hebrew Bible and New Testament) are all metaphors pointing to an internal, powerful spiritual transformation, as did the Kaballah followers, then there is another interpretation, that to me, is much more powerful and vivid!
