The geneology of Jesus goes through Matthew and Luke because there were 2 lines. They do not contradict. The list in Matthew, from David to Jacob-Heli--Joseph's father, (spanning about 1000 years), contains 27 generations at 40 years each, so as to comply with the royal generational standard. Luke, on the other hand, gives 40 generations at a more comprehensible 25 years each. Luke places Jesus in the 20th generation from Zerubbabel, whereas Matthew places him In the 11th generation. Matthew's generations are from Solomon, the patriarchal/father's line. Luke's generations are from Nathan, the matrierchal/mother's line. Both are son's of David. Both converge at Zerubbabel, then diverge. Matthew goes from Abiud, Mary's line. Luke goes from Rhesa, Joseph's line. Abiud & Rhesa were sons of Zerubbabel. Mary and Joseph are also related. Joseph was Mary's great-aunt Gadat's son. Mary's mother and father were Hannah & Joachim (Yonakhir), the Elias patriarch. Joachim's father was Matthat, the Zadok. His mother was Sabartia (Sabhrath). Hannah's mother & father were Estha.& Joiadah. Joseph's mother was Gadat (Estha's sister), & his father was Jacob-Heli. He had the title of Jacob because he was the Jacob patriarch. Heli's father was Matthan. Matthan descended from Mattathias (Tobias) the temple governor.

Mary came through Nathan. Nathan wasn't kingship. On the other hand, Joseph was born of kingship therefore we have Christ. Get it right.

According to the Hebrew manuscripts of Matthew, the genealogy in Matthew 1 is of Mary’s FATHER, which also resolves the problem of there being 13 generations if it’s Joseph the husband, see Matthew 1:17. So if it’s Mary’s Father, as the Hebrew Matthew reveals, then there’s 14 generations.

Regarding Luke 3, Mary is not mentioned or implied and the text clearly reads “Jesus, Son Of Joseph (as was supposed), Son Of Heli.

So now we have two genealogies for both parents: Matthew 1=Mary and Luke 3= Joseph

Now the questions that remain are: 1) Is the Jeconiah in Matthew 1 the cursed Jeconiah? If so, then we go to the uncursed genealogy in Luke 3, but that belongs to Joseph, who is allegedly NOT the biological father.

2) Why is Joseph’s genealogy listed at all if he’s not the biological father?

there is not any problem with the genealogy of Y’shua, the problem was the translation, you can see it in the original Hebrew text of Mattiyahu
the genealogy presented by Mattiyahu is through Mirian, the genealogy presented by Luke is through Yosef ( husband), Mattiyahu starts from Avraham, luke starts from Adam (that's why you count more generations in this genealogy) the translation mistake is in Mattiyahu Greek/english gospel says “ Yosef the husband of Miriam” it’s not the husband, the word is “SETH AVI” : Yosef the “FATHER of” Miriam .

Those are clearly two different genealogies, one is a paternal genealogy that focuses on Joseph as the biological father of Jesus, while the other is a maternal genealogy that focuses on Mary, because if you look at the genealogy in Luke, it starts from focusing strictly on Joseph as the father of Jesus and goes all the way back to Adam as the primal (genetic) ancestor of Jesus, without mentioning Mary at all, while the genealogy in Matthew starts from Abraham as the primal (spiritual) ancestor of Jesus, and mentions Joseph as only the husband of Mary, or son in law and spiritual leader of the family, since a female can't play this role in the Temple-Jewish tradition, however the genealogy itself ends with focus on Mary as the parent of Jesus, and so the second genealogy is focused on the lineage of Mary from the genetic point of view.

Luke’s Genealogy is also about Joseph and not about Mary, as it says, Joseph,
