I was just go back to an old video of yours I was watching. I have to laugh when people ask why are you living in a small place like that with 4 kids. Ha! My parents had 10 kids and we ALL lived on a farm. Our farm house was only 1, 000 square feet. 10 kids plus my mom and dad. So...12 in a very small home. It was the best life ever. We all had our own chores, we were close growing up and because we had lots of acres we got to explore as kids. Kudos to you guys for doing what you are. I love it!! Keep the videos coming. Take care...hugs from Wisconsin!😊

Hello from Indiana. I was stationed at Ft Hood for 5 years. I really understand about that soil/drainage. Caliche is very thick. Your baby is adorable.

I've had a few encounters with Rotti's; most favorable. There was one in an old neighborhood and I would meet him & his owner during our respective dog walks. Very little talking because he was training the puppy and focusing on him, but as he grew, he was a great dog and very friendly and sweet. I went with a friend to stop in a visit a friend of hers who trained Rotti's, walked in the living room and it was dwarfed by probably 4-5 huge Rotti's sprawled everywhere. They barely stirred, just snorted and got comfy again! One eventually got up and plopped her head in my lap for pats and attention. I've never seen such calm well adjusted dogs, but the trainer made a point of saying she worked hard with them when young so they could be like this as adults. She had a calm demeaner herself which likely helped, but recommend asking your breeder for recommendations of a local who is good with training Rotties and new owners who have little experience. Cuz not only will the dog need training - but you more than the dog!
Just remember to channel Cesear Milan and be calm but strong. You need to be the alpha or the dog will think they need to step into the role. My dogs always reacted best to being told NO in a low tone, so when I was disciplining or being firm - lowering the voice helped for me as I'm a female and my normal register is not in the low tones. It may or may not help you guys.

All breeds can be good or bad so ignore the scary stories - it really comes down to the person and their ability to step into the leadership role in a way the dog understands and then setting firm and consistant boundaries; just like with kids!

Rottweilers are awesome, my dad had one a few years ago and it was a great dog, they are great as family dogs, and they love kids.

To help with the biting make a “yelping” noise and eventually it’ll stop and have the kiddos do it as well.

Being an old timer that spent my youth on a farm, I was surprised by your plan to feed raw rabbit to your dog.  The reason being the one major rule was never feed raw.  Once a big dog gets the taste of blood and associates it with animals they will kill your animals.  Having witnessed the damage done to sheep, chicken's etc.  I was a believer.  Those dogs were shot in action.  Heart breaking for me as a child!

Your new home looks wonderful. Do you have a 2019 property planning sketch to show? Car port with breeze way, garden, work shed, playhouse for kids... 😊❤️

Omg...when I got my rescue dog...he was sickly. Then I found raw diet for dogs...my 10 yr old best ever friend besides my late husband has thrived. His favorite meat source is rabbit. I feed him rabbit and beef...because it’s his favorite meat source. Plus, I never give my dog shots after he went into epileptic shock. He thrives. Raw and no shots.

Good girl! she has a crossbow so she can use reusable ammo! Way to go Finley!
Both since you have never had a dog before I would recommend that when Chip gets to be about 8 to 9 months old you call the Temple PetSmart and see if they have puppy training classes and you and Chip go to school to help teach him discipline and to teach you how to discipline him. I have raised dogs all of my life and my pit bull mix Miss Kitty is the most stubborn dog that I have ever had so we are going to individual one on one puppy classes at the PetSmart closest to my house which unfortunately is about 45 miles away, but we're at least going.

I'm so glad to hear about your doggy diet plans. I will be so happy to help with that! :)

Go to Lumna Acres and watch their videos. He raises goats, chickens, and pigs. He also uses the moveable solar powered fencing. Very educational
