I couldn't really take the zipper off all the way since the leather at the top was folded over and way too thick to let the zipper pass through, and I did end up breaking one of the metal stoppers, but either way I still managed to get the zipper on again using this video and a bit of sheer force. Hoping that I can get another 5 years out of these shoes!! Thank you!!

I had finer zipper teeth but using two sets of small needle nose pliers perpendicular to one another (one to bring the sides together and one to force them flat) worked a charm. My boots are not going to get tossed out just yet! Thanks a bunch!

Thank you for this video but is it possible I have the type of zipper that will not click back together? My zipper teeth are tiny and seem to be backed onto material that is not letting me access the two sides. I am actually sweating!

Thank you for such a great and helpful video! For the people saying you can’t button the zipper up, I had the same problem at first but then I stacked the zipper on top of the other side more, and used the edge of the plier nose to press the metal of one side down into the second side and it buttoned much more easily than using my fingers or nails. Just any needle nose pliers can work

Thank you very much! It was harder than you made it look but persistence paid off. The biggest problem I had was after buttoning the zipper up, keeping it together as I put the slider on. After several tries I was able to get it to work. I also had to remove a couple of teeth. But I was about to throw these boots away. Much appreciated!

I’m about to use your tips for fixing a snowbib. I can fix every zipper except for this new design on my snowbib where the zipper teeth are angled downward instead of neutral or upwards. The zipper is also fused to a rubber panel for water proofing, so it’s impossible to repair via traditional methods 😊

omg, thank you soooo much.. I got cheated by a company that sold me boots online and the zipper was broken when got them.. I had tried on the right one, and then put them away till it rained.. till it was it wasn't for 2 months that I actually needed them, so by then it was too late to return them.. and I thought I just wasted $35.. but I feel great now, knowing this can be fixed 😁

Thanks so much! I was able to fix my very favorite boots. The sad thing is I let them sit in the closet for over a year before trying. I wasn't able to join the zipper by hand - It was a long YKK nylon type, but knowing how to take the stops off and slide the handle back on made all the difference. I was able to easily zip it down even though the teeth were not joined and once I started to zip up, the teeth joined perfectly. So Happy!
