Homeowners claim insurance company changed flooding policy without notice

A homeowner whose basement was flooded in the downpour earlier this month claims the insurance he thought their family had was changed without notice. Erica Natividad with the warning to others and the hefty bill they may have to pay on their own.

My insurance company changed my policy when I moved half way through the year long policy. When I found out I wanted to change my policy and wasn't allowed. Basically they said they could change my policy at any time without my permission but I wasn't allowed to change my policy unless it was at the end of the year. To change it mid year would count as a cancelled policy that they would charge me pro-rated fees for each outstanding month.
Insurance like any other company that makes money from your money are a bunch of scam artists.

Insurance companies should have discretion. Bad infastructure should be instant denial unless its new comers to Canada. They should get coverage for equalization.

Desjardin is in the wrong if they can’t come up with the paperwork and the insurance company maybe they are lie to not give insurance coverage to those home owners. Just saying and some of these companies in the insurance in Canada know how to get away with not giving really good coverage they’re really bad in Canada. I maybe bet you that if you look it up insurance companies are really bad to customers all across Canada just saying.
