What are Vitamins?
Vitamins are chemical compounds which carries out certain biological functions and maintain growth. Vitamins are generally consumed with regular foods and sometimes from supplements. They are an integral part of the regular diet and is essential for proper functioning of our bodies. Deficiency of the vitamins can cause several diseases like night blindness, dwarfism, etc.

Types of Vitamins;
There are 13 different types of Vitamins which include Vitamin A, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B7, Vitamin B9, Vitamin B12, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, and Vitamin K.

For broader classifications, vitamins can be categorized into two types which are water soluble vitamins, and fat soluble vitamins.

1. Fat Soluble Vitamins:
The vitamins which are soluble in fats are called fat soluble vitamins. These vitamins are stored in the adipose tissues. Among the 13 vitamins, Vitamin A, D, E, and K are fat soluble vitamins.

2. Water Soluble Vitamins
The vitamins which are soluble in water are called water soluble vitamins. These vitamins are not stored in the body and passes through urine. Vitamin B (and all in that group like B1, B2, etc.) and vitamin C are water soluble.
