Vitamins are the building blocks that keep our bodies running; they help build muscle and bone, capture energy, heal wounds and more. But if our body doesn’t create vitamins, how do they get into our system? Ginnie Trinh Nguyen describes what vitamins are, how they get into our bodies -- and why they are so crucial.

TED makes learning interesting and easy to understand, even a 10 year old can understand straight forward. I wish schools taught us like this.

See this just gives me the answers I need straight forward instead of running all round the houses, I swear school doesn’t teach us, they just tell us how to remember things enough to past a test

Something semi-important to note as well is that our bodies naturally produce vitamins D (through cholesterol molecules in our skin cells) and K (through bacteria in our gut), so these typically don't need to be supplemented very much or at all through our diet.

I love videos lie this were the little 'things' or whatever is in the video are alive and have like a whole system it really helps me to understand. instead of showing just complicated dna pictures and circles going through tubes this shows what they do inside and personal in a way it's easy to understand. I hope they make more videos like this!

I love how the lipid-soluble vitamin was looking so sadly at the vitamin c casually floating in the blood 😂

I’m a grad student & I love TedEd. Schools should learn to make concepts more simple & clear so can be easier for storing in our brains & use them!
