I purchased the PSO package recently and for a beginner learning how to create orchestral music I think it's pretty good. Obviously some sounds are better than others but you can at least get your feet wet for not too much investment. The free instruments that are available from Spitfire and others don't really offer all of the individual instruments included in the PSO package. On that note, I did find a problem with one of the instruments of the PSO package. I reported it to Presonus a few days ago and it has been replicated by their engineers on their systems. They said that it will be fixed in an update soon.

The problem is as follows... While using the PSO /Single instrument I notice that when I play this instrument (whether live on my midi keyboard or played from a recorded midi track) the volume alternates as follows... "two notes or chords loud, then two notes or chords soft --- two notes or chords loud, then two notes or chords soft -- etc.". This cycle repeats itself infinitely and there is no getting around it. All the sounds should be the same if the velocity is set equally on all of the notes. If you have PSO go ahead and try that Viola-Staccato instrument and see if you get the same problem.

It sounds a bit 'samplerish' to me. Maybe a lack of round robin, expression and legato? Or just a lack of a phat impulse reverb :) Pretty cheap package for bread'n'butter though, but I would probably look closer at an eastwest subscription if I get deeper into orchestral sounds. Thanks for an interesting video!

Hi Mattias. 2 questions. One, how do I use this DAW with my maschine mikro mk 3? And two, what is that cheeky little keyboard you have there? I can purchase this studio one pack for £55 but I am want to play the sounds manually. I use cakewalk by bandlab, and I am not too familiar with keys as I record acoustic guitar and vocals predominantly

Notion 6 is very good for composing and to get an immediate preview of what it sounds like.

The good thing about Notion is, when you program dynamics (p, pp, fff), crescendo, accents, etc. then the orchestra library is also triggered to play those dynamics and accents.

Presonus has released their own "Symphonic orchestra library" for studio one, and I wonder if the two are compatible.
If you program dynamics and accents in Notion would they also work in studio One after sending them over?

Hi Matthias, I’m new to DAWs and I joined presonus Sphere a week ago. I play guitar but no keyboard and I tried the computer keyboard for a while but that won’t take me too far. So I’m determined now to get a midi keyboard! Which midi keyboard are you using.? Does it matter which one you use for studio one? Any recommendation .?

Why am I limited to 10 instrument tracks? If I try adding more, the instrument won't load in presence anymore. I have the professional version so I shouldn't be limited to the amount of tracks I can use.
