Packing into folders and adding bus is a classic. Nothing new there. One of my favs since 3.0

YOU are the man Matty!
Finally someone who points out the new stuff for us editing and mixing guys which are:
- No more grey areas (Hallelujah!)
- Copy/Paste Channel settings even between sessions
- Clip gain envelopes and mix scenes have been mentioned by others but are also great

Until now I was so disappointed with the new features they are praising. Only stuff I don't need:
- the live feature / Show Page (I don't use my DAW live...).
- key switches (I don't need that)
- a notation feature which is able to type in notes in a notation view but is unable to export a midi arrangement into notation (who needs that??)
- a "listen" bus (I think my interface does that..)
- Aux channels for external hardware (I neither have nor use external synths)

After that I was not gonna upgrade but after your video I shurely will!

As a bonus I just realized: They have excluded the left area in the arrange window from color coding. So after updating I'll finally see if my Busses (which are always dark red) are muted or not. Great!
Still they haven't done anything to their weird colour palette and the mono/stereo thing won't ever be fixed. But let's be optimistic and see how things go in version 6. :-)

THANK YOU MATTY! I

Would you advise buying Studio One 5 Professional as a one time purchase. They seem to be pushing their subscription service quite heavily, and I worry that they will abandon the stand alone one later. Any advice would be appreciated.

Have you checked the 3rd party software for updated plugins? Most software developers will support their own software with future updates. If you had one crash and many users have identified it to the developer, they may prioritize the updates accordingly. If they don't, there are probably better developers out there to consider.

I love studio one but ver 5 was a very unexciting upgrade for me, I feel a bit let down by them and starting to consider other options. I wish they would fix first some bugs and problems, then improve some features and then bring new features

I finally upgraded to Pro Tools 2020 a couple weeks ago and then this comes out. Smh. I did give Studio One and Logic some consideration, but to me, their GUI's look too busy/cluttered and I'm not a fan of the flat/dark look. Ultimately, I stuck with what I knew. Being able to use VST's natively in Studio One, without a wrapper would've been nice though.

I’m an Ableton user and when they ask me what DAW they should get. I say Studio One it has everything from producing, mixing, mastering, recording, film scoring, and now performing. You can do that with others DAW but I noticed Studio One has great shortcuts and unique perks for it.

hi there, do you see yourself going back to S1? I work in PT for several years and tried to move to S1 for mixing and producing. I'm having some issues that show how unreliable S1 is at this point. Really dig S1 concept but it's annoying to deal with certain issues...

Genuine question for ANYONE who can answer. I have recently decided on taking my game music composition hobby more seriously and have only messed around with garage band and my keyboard/guitars for years. I enjoy being able to use the instruments in garage band, the piano rolls and making complete compositions with just those. However I want more quality and instrumentation options going forward. The brass is incredibly limiting (I love orchestration styles of composers like Yoko Shimomura in KH). I guess the gist of my question is which DAW allows for the most IN PROGRAM music composition and production options. I am not worried about live or external instruments.

I saw a video about the new chorus and you can hear it definitely sounds way better than before. I'm curious to know if all of the plugins have had improvements to the quality? I saw another video where a guy was comparing the room reverb to the old version and there is a noticeable difference in quality.... V5 sounds much better.
