Wouldn't it have been even more ironic if Maester Aemon openly admitted that something about Jon reminded him of his little brother Aegon...

This is somewhat implied by Aemon offering the same advice to Jon as he did to Egg... (Kill the Boy...) But, it may have just been the best and most appropriate advice for someone in a similar situation (young idealistic man taking leadership over older jaded and conniving men)...

Still, we never knew exactly what was going on in Aemond's mind.... And he never could physically see Jon or recognize any aspect of family resemblance (Even though Jon is always described as "Stark-looking" by Catelyn)... 🤔
