She didn't fear him, She recognized his recklessness and the size of Vhagar

"Was afraid"
Accurately assesses that the Blacks only have a theoretical advantage, not a real one in a full dragons v. dragons fight so she doesn't do it.
She correctly reasons that at this stage the risk of losing all is too great and does not go to battle head on for no reason. Reason is the opposite of fear.

Rhaenyra wanted all the dragons to still be alive to be passed down to future Targaryens. I’ll give her credit for thinking in the long term.

That’s just smart thinking. The Blacks have more dragons but as Rhaenyra said in the show “none of our dragons have ever been to war”. Meanwhile Vhagar was once ridden by VISENYA Targaryen.

Vhagar is a queen chess piece. Gotta be worth 9 small dragons at the least.

Gotta love the council of cowards every king has... They always suggest actions that result in so much bloodshed but never take part in it themselves

Rhaenyra: “I fear no Man”
Vhagar: “I am no Man”

She also understands what her dad told her about the war across the wall. She knows she needs to preserve the dragons as they will be needed in the future

Meanwhile Daemon is like "hold my cup" and kills Aemond and vhagar by himself.

I still don’t understand how people can say that Rhaenyra was reckless in the war

Tbh, the Greens would more than likely only have 3 dragons since I don't think Helaena/Dreamfyre would join any fighting. Also, depending on when they would enact this plan, there's a good chance that Daeron/Tessarion would still be in Oldtown if it was done earlier in the conflict so they might only have Aegon/Sunfyre and Aemond/Vhagar to defend King's Landing. I do understand Rhaenyra's hesitation to use the dragons in this way though, since they are very similar to our modern day nukes.

Daemon literally counted three dragon eggs, as if the eggs would hatch and the dragons suitable for battle in a few days.
Rhaenyra is being cautious cause she knows is not that easy

Had the dragon seeds not betrayed her, victory in an all-out dragon battle would be very easy. Silverwing and Vermithor together can overpower Vhagar, leaving Sunfyre, Tessarion, and Dreamfyre to be completely destroyed by the combined might of Caraxes, Meleys, Seasmoke, Syrax, and Sheepstealer. Rhaenyra's and Daemon's children needn't get involved in the battle.

Best is to try and isolate them and hit them with 3v1 kind of numbers. Or like I've always said, fly straight to Red Keep, their dragons are on the other side of the city. Get them there or during some public event. Or just get rid of the dragon riders when they're NOT on their dragons. Send more "Cheese's"

Sure they had Vhagar. But you’d have Meleys and Caraxes together. Fkn they could take down the greens almost by themselves.
