Maester Aemon was sure that the reason he lived so long was due to the cold of the wall which preserved his life hence quickly passed away when Jon sent him to Old Town.

Well to be fair, being away from the iron throne or King's Landing can really make someone's longer. They are away from the stress brought by politics, power plays, betrayals, backstabbing and assassination attempts...

I always thought the wall was preserving him and when he left the wall that’s when his age started to show more n more

Sadly, while he would've probably been a great king, I guarantee someone would've tried to kill a king who had previously been a maester. But I do like that he likely counselled many nights watch commanders, just as he advised his brother before they parted ways.

He definitely would have been a great king

I think its confirmed the wall kept him alive and that is why he died after leaving it

I think it’s pretty clear in the books that it was the magic of The Wall and his constant proximity to it that allowed him to live to such an advanced age. He may well have lasted beyond 102 years old if Stannis hadn’t been looking for any and everyone with an ounce of king’s blood to roast.

A french youtuber name Flavio de Lestival did an uchronia of it, while be realistic from it, he would probably permit to targaryens to continue rule and no mad king to end it, and no robert joffrey and tommen as well as Cersei.

He would have been a great and scholarly King but he would not live long. The Game Of Thrones and politicking that plagues Westeros would have either brought enough stress to kill him or he would have been targeted. Sometimes the best men to be Kings are the ones who refuse the position.

The wall has magic elements to it which may have sustained his life aswell.. even for his age he was quite active at thevwall granted he was blind.. once he went on his journey with Sam to meet Deanerys his health dropped rapidly.

He probably is the best chance for peace

Possibly Aemon's reign may have passed a little bit like Henry III's reign in 1200s England. Despite one particular political mistake, Henry's reign was relatively peaceful compared to reigns either side of his, allowing the English population to substantially increase. Relatively good climate (especially compared with Europe in the 1300s) probably helped as well.

It would have been interesting to see how Aemond would have dealt with Bloodraven...

and what would have happened with Aemond's younger brother "Egg"?

Would Aegon have become a trusted advisor? Faded into obscurity? or been a loud voice to attempt to promote change? (and a potential "thorn in the side" if that change didn't happen)...

Probably no Tragedy at Summerhall... and no Robert's Rebellion... What would happen to Dunk? 🤔

Interesting "What If..."

In the books he also believed the reason he lived for so long was because of the cold. Quote. While Fire cleanses the ice preserves.

It is said that the best rulers are the ones that have no desire to rule at all

He would have been a great king and maybe tried to help the small folks as much as his brother Aegon.

It was the cold that prolonged his life

He would be a second Jaehaerys the conciliator

I know Westeros MIGHT have been more peaceful under his reign, but the politics of the land and not having a dragon would not do his life expectancy any favors like Aerys.
